We gon’ make it do what it do, ya-ya!
Last night, Beyoncé kicked off her much-anticipated Cowboy Carter tour at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. (You have likely seen clips from it all over social media by now.) The 32-stop tour, which will span across the U.S. and Europe, serves as Act II in her three-act musical project—following up her successful 2023 Renaissance tour.
Unsurprisingly, the superstar put out all the stops for her new show: Not only did she perform Cowboy Carter tracks like “American Requiem” (her opening song), “Ya-Ya,” and “Levii’s Jeans,” but she also performed longtime hits like “Crazy In Love” and “Formation.” Daughters Rumi and Blue Ivy even made cameos on the stage as her backup dancers. But perhaps the best part? All of the custom fashions that Beyoncé enlisted top designees to make for the stage, with styling lead by Shiona Turini.
No Beyoncé show, after all, would be complete with custom and glamorous stage outfits. The superstar worked with a variety of top fashion houses—all of whom put their spin on her new country-western fashion look. Opening the show, was a white Mugler bodysuit with fringing, chaps, and a classic brimmed cowboy hat. (Punctuating the look? A diamond bolo tie.) As the show progresses, the rodeo style signatures continued. Burberry puts its spin on the bodysuit and chaps look—reinventing it with a sequined plaid, its signature print. Roberto Cavalli subverted denim by doing a denim-printed catsuit—complete with a giant gold belt buckle and fringed sleeves, of course.
A classic red and white bandana print was served up by Moschino, who reworked the pattern as a western shirt-printed catsuit. (Queen B loves a catsuit.) For a performance of “Crazy In Love,” Beyoncé even offered a new take on her classic white tank top and denim cut-offs she wears in the video: This time, they tank top was bedazzled, and worn with fringed gloves and furry boots. Yeehaw!
