So, I’m curious: What colors are you wearing these days?
For me, of course, I’ve been loving my neutrals — but I’ve also been very into the subtle colors lately. Think navy, burgundy, and olive green.
These aren’t the kind of colors that are going to jump out and demand attention, but they possess a quiet confidence all their own.
Now that we’re deep into winter, I’m particularly drawn to pairing grey and black with one of these subtle shades. Like today’s fit — grey, black, navy.
Two quick thoughts on pulling this off:
USE GREY AS A BRIDGE: Is it just me or is grey a magic neutral? In today’s look, it serves as a bridge between navy and black. Think of the outfit without the grey coat — I mean, it’s entirely fine, but when the grey coat is in the mix the outfit has that extra something. If you’re ever feeling like your outfit color palette is out of whack, try adding in some grey and see what happens.
REPEAT COLORS: To give everything a cohesive feel, I try to repeat each color at least once, without being precious about it. In today’s look, I’ve got black in the skirt and shoes. Grey in the coat and socks. And blue in the sweater and cap.
So if you’re stumped on what to wear today, try picking your favorite subtle color and pairing it with black and grey. Let me know how it goes!
