As I was getting dressed today, it hit me that 7th-grade-me would so wear this outfit.
Come to think of it, 7th-grade-me DID wear this outfit, for the most part. Just swap the burgundy track pants for a pair of periwinkle blue Gap track pants, complete with floral embroidery on the pockets and hem. Oh! And swap the gorgeous glass pendant necklace for one of those stretchy tattoo chokers. And maybe swap the chic, minimalist flip flops for chunky, platform flip flops.
The details have changed, but the essence of the outfit remains the same.
I love how there are things that steadily and continually resonate with us, no matter how many years pass. We can always find little ways to return to ourselves through various things like clothes, music, movies etc. It reminded me of a beautiful question I came across on Substack the other day:
Who are you now that you always knew you were?
I find it incredibly comforting to sit with that question.

I’m so glad you’re here today — thanks for reading Unfancy.
I got all inspired and styled these track pants 5 different ways the other day, so this week is officially track pants week! I’ll be sharing a new way to style them each day. See you tomorrow!
