I first wrote about Dorsey jewelry a while back, but now that I’ve been consistently wearing the brand for a few years, I wanted to revisit and update my review. Dorsey has become one of my go-to jewelry staples, and I style their pieces with everything from casual daily outfits to dressy looks. I love how their designs elevate even the simplest of outfits!
So today, I’m sharing a refreshed look at this brand—covering who founded Dorsey jewelry, what makes their pieces unique, and why I love them so much. I’ll also highlight some of the newest styles that I’ve added to my Dorsey collection, along with a few that are currently on my wish list. And of course, no review would be complete without some styling ideas!
About Dorsey Jewelry
Dorsey is a direct-to-consumer jewelry brand that designs beautiful, heritage-inspired pieces using lab-grown gemstones. Founded in 2019 by Meg Strachan and named after her grandmother, this Los Angeles-based brand quickly gained popularity among Gen Z and Millennials—and for good reason! Dorsey’s pieces are not only stunning but also durable and versatile, making them perfect for everyday wear.
What are Lab-Grown Gemstones?
Before diving in further, I want to touch on lab-grown gemstones, as they’ve become increasingly popular in recent years. These gemstones are created in a controlled laboratory environment that replicates the natural formation process of diamonds. They have the same physical and chemical properties as mined diamonds but without the environmental or ethical concerns. This makes them a more affordable option without compromising on quality, brilliance, or timeless beauty.
Do Dorsey Jewelry Pieces Last?
I started my Dorsey jewelry collection with the Kate necklace, and soon after, I snapped up the matching bracelet. That was nearly two years ago—more than enough time to give an honest review.
First, the quality and craftsmanship of each piece are outstanding. I can be tough on my jewelry, yet even after all this time, I haven’t noticed any significant wear or tear. And that’s despite wearing some pieces daily! Additionally, I’ve received countless compliments on these accessories—both when I first got them and even now. This speaks to the timelessness of their designs and proves that they truly stand the test of time.
Dorsey Jewelry Favorites
Now that I’ve raved about how much I love this brand, I want to share some of my current favorite pieces. Jewelry is certainly an investment, so I always appreciate learning more about specific styles before making a purchase. But let’s be honest—a girl can never have too many accessories!
The Kate Rivière Necklace
As I mentioned earlier, the Kate necklace was my first piece of Dorsey jewelry, so it’s only fitting to start here. This round-cut white sapphire necklace comes in a variety of stone sizes, sapphire colors, and chain lengths. I went with the larger 4.5mm stone size, which comes in a 15″ chain, allowing it to sit just above the collarbone. However, if you opt for the smaller stone size, there are five different chain length options ranging from 15″ to 20″.
The Kate Rivière Bracelet
After realizing how much I loved the Kate necklace, ordering the matching bracelet was a no-brainer! This single-strand tennis bracelet features round-cut, lab-grown white sapphire stones set in sterling silver. Overall, I consider the Kate styles to be a cornerstone of the brand. These iconically classic designs look absolutely stunning when worn.
The Kate bracelet is now available in two stone sizes (3mm, and 3.75mm), four to five lengths (depending on the stone size), and a choice of sterling silver or gold. And if you prefer a princess cut over a round cut, Dorsey offers those as well!
The James Bracelet
While I still wear my Kate pieces often, I was surprised by how much I gravitated toward the James styles as my Dorsey collection grew. First, I got the James bracelet in gold—but soon after, I snapped up the silver as well! I’m a big fan of mixing metals, and I love how the two look together.
The James Necklace
You know where this is going… Once I realized how much I loved the James bracelet, I ended up adding the James necklace to my jewelry box. This has become my ultimate layering piece and is probably my most-worn Dorsey design of all time—it just stacks so effortlessly! Dorsey Fashion Pieces
While I consider all Dorsey jewelry to be classic and perfect for daily wear, I also own and love a few pieces with a bit more flair.
First up, the turquoise Bennington necklace is my newest addition, and it’s quickly becoming one of my most-worn. The shade of turquoise is absolutely stunning—perfect for spring and summer!
I also have a few pairs of Dorsey statement earrings. These gorgeous green drop earrings are simply breathtaking. The crystal emeralds are great year-round but feel especially festive during the holidays. I also own and love these blue sapphire studs—regal is the first word that comes to mind when I see them. They’re timeless and elegant. Heads up…this pair is a limited edition, so once it’s gone, it’s gone!
My Dorsey Jewelry Wish List
While these are my current Dorsey favorites, the brand continues to release timeless designs each season—so my wish list is always growing! Their collections have expanded significantly, and they now offer something for everyone.
If you prefer daintier styles, I highly recommend the Clemence collection. Available in both gold and silver, it’s as delicate as it is beautiful.
I haven’t yet dipped my toe into Dorsey’s rings, but I think that will be my next move. The bezel nano ring in emerald is currently at the top of my list!
How to Style Dorsey Jewelry
There’s no right or wrong way to style jewelry, but lately, I’ve been very into stacking my Dorsey pieces with a mix of fine and costume jewelry. I find they pair beautifully with some of my other favorite brands, like Pacharee, Brinker and Eliza, and even Tuckernuck. Dorsey’s classic designs make them incredibly versatile, allowing for endless styling possibilities!
Styling Necklaces
You know I adore a layered necklace look! When it comes to the Kate necklace, I love pairing it with this letter necklace, this pendant, and this unique pearl necklace. On days when I’m feeling a bit more whimsical, I wear it with this affordable rainbow necklace for a fun pop of color or this bubble heart necklace for a playful touch!
Not sure what to wear with so many layered necklaces? Personally, I love styling them with a simple outfit—like an open-neckline button-up, an easy pair of denim, and city sandals.
Styling Bracelets
Just as I love layering necklaces, I also enjoy stacking bracelets. Lately, I’ve been wearing the Kate and James bracelets alongside this gold cable bangle, this rainbow bracelet (a fun new addition to my rotation!), and my Longines watch—an everyday classic that pairs with everything.
Again, there’s no wrong way to style Dorsey jewelry, but I encourage you to mix metals, play with proportions, and don’t be afraid to add a little whimsy!
