Now, we aren’t going to tell you that you can live just like Gwyneth Paltrow. To live just like Gwyneth Paltrow would require millions of dollars, movie-star genetics, a wardrobe full of Brunello Cucinelli, and a general je ne c’est quoi that allows you to not only make a candle called “Smells Like My Vagina” but to sell it out.
But thanks to CB2, you can kind of live like Gwyneth! Today, they launched a limited edition furniture, lighting, and dining collection designed by Paltrow and her lifestyle brand, Goop.
The Goop x CB2 collaboration feels straight out of a light and airy home in Montecito: there’s ivory bouclé chairs and high gloss white resin dining tables, shearling seating and Spanish alabaster sconces. Yet, Paltrow tells Vogue that she looked far beyond Santa Barbara while creating her pieces. “In drawing inspiration from both the elegance of modern Parisian apartments, and the architecture of mid-century Italian modernist furniture—we designed a collection that was eclectic, yet cohesive at the same time,” she says.
The eclecticism Paltrow speaks of is in the details. Look closely at a shearling armchair and you’ll see marble legs with brass caps, whereas a chandelier is reminiscent of dangling earrings. Another pendant, when lit, gives off a soft rose gold glow. “The collection feels unique and special enough to stand the test of time,” adds Paltrow.
And those are just the big ticket items. Colored wine glasses come in vineyard-esque hues of olive and aubergine. A dainty mug, meanwhile, looks like it could have discovered at a Parisian flea market.
This is the second collection between Paltrow’s Goop and the furniture retailer. The first, launched in 2018, was one of CB2’s best selling collaborations of all time. Why? It artfully capitalized on aesthetics—bouclé continues to be a trending material in interior design—as well as aura: the pieces look remarkably similar in style to those in her Montecito and Los Angeles homes, which were featured in Architectural Digest.
