It’s true that powder pink, tulle textures and plaid-print everything are set to be everywhere for spring/summer 2025, but there are some small yet mighty standout trends that we think deserve some recognition too.
If the past few years have been anything to go by, it’s these microtrends that could quite possibly define your entire wardrobe for the upcoming season. Just look at the suede jacket, for example, which is now an integral part of most fashion people’s wardrobes, or the ballet flat—can we even remember a time when we didn’t add this humble slip-on shoe to the majority of our spring outfits? I think not!
What I’m saying is that sometimes, one item can become bigger than the main trend itself, and this is why I’m going to share with you the microtrends that all the most important designers put in their collections but which might have initially gone unnoticed—until now, thanks to me. (You’re welcome.) Whether it’s the accessory championed by Saint Laurent that you may have worn at secondary school or an animal-print bag (that isn’t leopard) as shown by the likes of Louis Vuitton, Jil Sander and Valentino, these are the five mini trends I predict will be big news for spring 2025.
5 SPRING MICROTRENDS TO HAVE ON YOUR RADAR
1. Ties

Style Notes: If I could pinpoint one accessory that’s set to be small but mighty this season, it’s the tie. Spotted at the likes of Saint Laurent—worn effortlessly by Bella Hadid with a slouchy suit—the traditional officewear accessory has been removed from the boardroom but is still worn with tailoring. Add it to a buttoned-up shirt with a pleated skirt or style with a fluid suit, as seen on the runway.
Shop Ties:
River Island
Brown Faux Suede Tie
Suede has made its way into the tie department, too.
2. Colour-Combo Trainers
Two-toned trainers at Loewe, Miu Miu and Prada

Style Notes: When Prada, Miu Miu and Loewe all show a particular shoe, it’s guaranteed to be a trend. And this season, the trio went for bright two-toned trainers that give an instant retro feel. It’s all about the unexpected—think turquoise with highlighter pink, burgundy with mint and sky blue with red. Anything goes, as long as all eyes will be on your feet.
Shop Multi-Colour Trainers:
TOTEME
The Sport Leather-Trimmed Suede and Twill Sneakers
If you’re more of a minimalist, this subtler tan-and-orange colourway will be a good option.
3. Spotty Dresses
Polka-dot dresses at Valentino, Carolina Herrera and Nina Ricci

Style Notes: Prints, prints and more prints—S/S 25 is full of them. If animal isn’t your thing, take your cue from designers and opt for spots, dots and polkas. Whilst Jacquemus and Acne Studios went for tops in the print, Nina Ricci and Carolina Herrera showed “wow” dresses, and I wouldn’t be surprised if polka-dot is the most popular print for wedding guest dresses this year.
Shop the Trend:
RIXO
Federica London Spot Black
Of course, Rixo is already one step ahead, with so many different dress styles in the print.
Nobody’s Child
White Polka Dot Bandeau Felicity Midi Dress
The dress, the boat, the location… I’ll take it all.
4. Micro Shorts

Style Notes: Miu Miu made micro shorts a big deal back in 2023, and the brand has revived the trend for spring 2025. The only difference? Short-shorts have now been given the green light by Isabel Marant, Fendi and the sister brand Prada, too. To make them work beyond the runway, try styling them with tall boots and an oversized jacket.
Shop Micro Shorts:
GUEST IN RESIDENCE
Ribbed Cashmere Shorts
There’s something very Parisian about these.
5. Snake-Print Bags

Style Notes: Leopard print may have been hogging the limelight lately, but any animal print—from cow to zebra and croc—is key for spring, and snake is the one I can’t get enough of. I always think it’s best reserved for accessories, and I’m validated this season by the likes of Louis Vuitton (the Speedy has been updated in snake), Valentino, Jil Sander and Dries Van Noten.
