TRESemmé 2 in 1 Hair Dryer Brush: An Honest Review

I’m a beauty editor who tests a lot of hair tools for a living. I would hazard a guess that I’ve tested upwards of 50 hair tools throughout my career. I’ve tried everything from the premium hair tools such as the Dyson Airwrap and Shark Flexfusion to £20 curling wands (I’ve been loyal to this budget hair wand for years—it gets me endless compliments). But after testing hot brushes, hair straighteners and hair dryers across the price range and noticing the hair tools that pro hairstylists use on set, one thing has become very clear to me. It’s often the cheaper hair tools that are genuinely the best.

So, when I spotted that Tresemmé’s 2 in 1 Hair Dryer Brush is in the Amazon Spring Deals sale down from £65 to just £28, I knew I had to try it. Scroll ahead for my honest review of the hair tool and if I think it’s worth it.

I’ve tried a lot of hair brushes and would say that the Tresemmé 2 in 1 Hair Dryer Brush is among the very best I’ve tried, even in comparison to more expensive hot brushes.

It features a large oval round brush, which is not only the perfect size for taking large sections (which, if you have long or thick hair, you know can make or break a hair tool and how quickly it styles your hair) but has a mixture of firm and soft bristles to create just the right amount of tension. I found it glided through my lengths with ease with zero snagging or tugging as I twirled each section. The oval shape makes it easier to get right into the roots for volume while creating a soft, volumised curl through the lengths.

Also included is smoothing vent brush, which is nimble enough to dry and smooth at the roots and rough dry your hair. It’s helpful to start with hair that’s about 80-90% dry. So after rough-drying with hair dryer, I switch to the vent brush to smooth my roots before changing to the round brush style and dry the remainder of my hair. It goes without saying that any hot tool will create some heat damage, so I also recommend applying a heat protection mist, whether you’re blowdrying wet or styling dry hair. I used Tresemmé‘s Lamellar Shine Ultra-Gloss Spray (£10) which contains heat protection adds shine and gloss.

It has three temperature settings including a cold shot setting. There is also a cold shot button further up the handle which is helpful to press to set your style as your hair cools down. After brushing through the oval attachment through each section, I switched to the cold shot setting for about 10 seconds to help lock in the volume and bounce.

I have really long hair at the moment (I’m long overdue a haircut) so I was impressed at how well it added shape to my longer lengths despite my hair being quite heavy right now. I have shorter layers around my face and I found these took the style a lot more. So if you have layered hair or short hair, you can create tonnes of volume and shape here. If you have one-length hair, you can expect more of a smoothing and soft bend in the hair.
