Pet smarts: fall 2025 looks from Simone Rocha, Acne Studios, Sacai, Conner Ives, Valentino, and Marni
According to the Chinese zodiac, 2025 is the year of the snake. While snakeskin patterns did slither down runways, other more cuddly species made up the majority of the fall season’s varied menagerie of emotional—and sartorial—support animals.
These species were drawn from nature and fantasy alike. Coach’s Stuart Vevers and Acne Studios’ Jonny Johansson oversaw veritable teddy-bear picnics while Sacai’s menswear collection took inspiration from Maurice Sendak’s classic Where the Wild Things Are. Philipp Plein showed garments with Bambi motifs, perhaps pulling a page from Riccardo Tisci–era Givenchy, and dragons once again roamed at 3.Paradis, Lu’u Dan, and Maison Mihara Yasuhiro; menswear designers were especially into the creatures trend.
More common house pets also made appearances. Models at Marni and S.S. Daley donned dogs, while Valentino’s cat dress captivated the fashion set almost as much as Choupette Lagerfeld once did. In keeping with their nature, rabbits were especially profligate, hopping up at MSGM, Kenzo, and Simone Rocha (who also showed a tortoise accessory, referencing Aesop’s famous tale). In honor of National Pet Day, the examples gathered below show that, no matter the species, creature motifs were clear winners for fall 2025.
