This evening, the 2025 SAG Awards in Los Angeles continued the year’s eventful, star-studded awards season. While the SAG Awards are the last major Hollywoody ceremony until the highly-anticipated Oscars on March 2, don’t go thinking it’s a filler event. In fact, if the glitzy red carpet proved anything, it was that the SAG Awards is one of the best-dressed gatherings of the year—with loads of risk-taking and theatricality grabbing the spotlight.
Take Danielle Deadwyler in her sculptural, tiered red Louis Vuitton gown—the type of look that commands attention in all the right ways. Ditto for Wicked star Cynthia Erivo and her archival silver Givenchy number from the fall 1997 collection, designed by the late—and great—Alexander McQueen: The silver plaited raphia dress with fringed collar and sleeves felt just as fresh and modern today. (Erivo’s co-star, Ariana Grande, meanwhile, went for Glinda pink her in a custom Loewe floral frock.)
Erivo wasn’t the only star to embrace a sustainable approach to red carpet dressing tonight. Lily Gladstone re-wore her Oscars after-party look from last year: A custom Gucci gown with intricate quillwork done by the Indigenous artist Joe Big Mountain.
The night also produced some memorable menswear moments—plenty of them, actually. Colman Domingo, ever the red carpet star, looked dapper in his cream Valentino blazer. Timothée Chalamet went for an edgy, western-inspired leather suit by Chrome Hearts, complete with a neon-green shit and bolo tie. Bridgerton star Luke Newton, though, won for the most thoughtful accessorizing of the night: He wore a bejeweled pin that featured a joint male and female symbol, imagery often associated with the trans community. It was a subtle display of solidarity that shined through.
