It wasn’t clear how badly we all needed to see Moira Rose again until Catherine O’Hara took the stage—introduced by her onscreen family of Eugene and Dan Levy and Annie Murphy, of course—to present the Emmy for outstanding comedy series to Hacks. There are, like, four people in Hollywood who could pull off delaying an end-of-night award-show winner announcement for the sake of a bit (“No, really? Must we? Must we just choose one winner?”), and O’Hara is one of them.
Anna Sawai’s tribute to “all the women who expect nothing and continue to be an example for everyone”
Sawai, who is the first Japanese actress and first performer of Asian descent to win the coveted Emmy for lead actress in a drama series for her performance on Shōgun, struck a heartfelt and thoughtful note in her acceptance speech on Sunday, thanking costar and fellow Emmy winner Hiroyuki Sanada for “continu[ing] to opens doors for people like me.”
