Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid Make Girls’ Night a Semi-Formal Affair

If there’s one thing nobody is immune to—even Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid—it’s the frantic pre-GNO effort to coordinate outfits. Last night the BFF duo hit the Waverly Inn (one of Swift’s all-time favorite New York eateries) synching their looks that, we suspect, were the result of a premeditated “What are you wearing?” text.

Swift and Hadid’s dress code for the night exceeded the classic “jeans and a nice top” mandate. Instead, the two opted for semi-formal attire, albeit, each in their own true-to-form way. Swift wore a poetic black long-sleeve midi dress from Simkhai’s fall 2024 collection, complete with a knit crewneck top, a voluminous taffeta skirt with a bubble hem, and an asymmetrical waistline. She accessorized with a pair of black pointy-toe Gucci slingbacks and—for a little sparkle—a small silver sequined purse.

Hadid, meanwhile, leaned into the trendy, wearing the color of the season in a burgundy maxi skirt with a slit that showed off her knee-high croc-embossed Freda Salvador boots in a similar oxblood hue. Even the model’s bag was on-trend: she toted a brown leather Miu Miu bowling bag that played off her leather jacket.

The besties have been known to coordinate their outfits in the past. In September, they enjoyed dinner at The Corner Store, each of them wearing trench coats. (Hadid chose a shiny chocolate brown coat with a cinched waist, while Swift wore an olive green Vivienne Westwood.) But don’t expect Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid to get too matchy-matchy—they’re two women with distinct tastes. But, like any friend group, they just want to match the vibe! Stars: they really are just like us.
