Taylor Russell may be a member of the jury at the 81t Venice Film Festival, but she’s dressing the part of a leading lady.
Shortly after touching down in Italy, the actor traded in her leather jacket, headscarf, and kitten heels for a piece of prize vintage. Russell—styled by Rihanna’s go-to Jahleel Weaver—nabbed a look from John Galliano’s spring 1995 ready-to-wear collection, dubbed “Pin Up.” The houndstooth set is composed of a sharp-shouldered blazer with a nipped waist and peplum hem. She paired it with the matching calf-length skirt. While it’s impossible to replicate Russell’s elfin je ne sais quoi, it is possible to copy her style: a similar iteration of this suit, from journalist and fashion critic Alexander Fury’s private collection, is currently on sale on ReSee for $6,752.98.
Worn on the runway by Yasmeen Ghauri, the look was originally styled with a skinny leopard print belt and a matching beret with a netted veil. But Russell gave it a 2024 update with a pair of lace-up pointy-toe mesh heels from Saint Laurent and a pair of slim black sunglasses.
She gave yet another piece of iconic vintage a moment in the sun at the premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, when she donned a look from Chanel’s spring 1993 couture show. Originally worn by Claudia Schiffer, the white dress features a transparent PVC corseted bodice with floral and fauna motifs over the bust. But the skirt was the real attention-grabber, with a cloud of sheer fabric in the same print sitting atop a skirt with a dramatic train flaring out behind her.
We’re only at the beginning of the Venice Film Festival, but Taylor Russell is already a total scene-stealer. The best dressed crown is hers for the taking!
