We can talk all day about Taylor Russell’s roster of show-stopping Venice Film Festival outfits or Raffey Cassidy’s newly minted fashion darling status, but allow me to raise you Pedro Almodóvar as a style star to watch.
The Spanish director hit the Italian festival this week to promote his latest film, The Room Next Door, starring Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton. And while people have rightfully been discussing Moore’s glimmering gold Bottega Veneta dress and Swinton’s gauzy Chanel jacket from the film’s premiere, Almodóvar more than holds his own among his leading ladies. As a previous Loewe attendee, it’s no wonder that he turned to the Spanish brand for the occasion, wearing a salmon pink double-breasted suit, which he accessorized to the nines with a gold feather brooch that ran down the length of his lapel and a pair of Loewe inflated sunglasses. (Almodóvar proudly gestured to the funky shades on the red carpet. Talk about a man of taste!)
Even the director’s casual looks were chic. At the photocall for The Room Next Door, he rocked a pair of colorful Loewe sneakers with his favorite sunglasses, a striped tee, jeans, and a gray chore coat. Leaving Venice, he wore an emerald green polo paired with an olive green-and-white polka-dotted ascot. While the neckerchief could easily lean aristocratic, he dressed it down with his chore coat and blue jeans. Pedro Almodóvar, we have our eyes on you!
