On the Podcast: Chemena Kamali on Her Second Collection for Chloé

No one can deny that Chloé is having a moment right now. From Sienna Miller’s tiered lace dress at the Met Gala to Kamala Harris’s coconut brown suit during the Democratic National Convention, Chemena Kamali’s Chloé seems to be reaching every kind of woman. “All of the women [who wear Chloé] are quite different, with different styles and different attitudes, but they all sort of make it their own,” Chemena tells Vogue’s Mark Holgate and Nicole Phelps on The Run-Through this week. “It doesn’t transform them, but it gives them the freedom to make it personal.”

Chemena’s love for Chloé goes way back: She grew up studying and admiring Karl Lagerfeld’s work for the house, and eventually landed her first job at Chloé as an intern under Phoebe Philo. Twenty years later, as she prepares to show her second collection as creative director, she seems totally assured. “I don’t have this objective view on Chloé; it’s a very personal, relatable sort of connection to it,” she says. “I don’t think that I need to sort of force anything out of me. It’s something that comes quite naturally…”
