Olmos & Flores Mexico Spring 2025 Collection

Designers Víctor Olmos and Alí Flores took their spring 2025 collection to the hidden cove of Majahuitas in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The creative duo linked their vision for the season to the brand’s sense of freedom. The inspiration behind the “Arrecife” collection—Spanish for reef—was the LGBTQ+ culture in Puerto Vallarta. Born in Guadalajara, Flores finds himself very close to this place. “This is where [my parents] met, this is where they kissed for the first time,” he said backstage.

The creative process took the designers back to their family roots, which manifested in the use of traditional palm weaving in shoes, hats, and bags made in collaboration with artisans based in Tonalá, Jalisco. “Mexican designers are somehow obligated to preserve and transmute craftsmanship knowledge,” added Flores about their approach to accessories. They also contrasted form and fabric through the use of new technologies including 3D-printing details on shoes, with reef-printed shorts and large coats, metallic bomber jackets, psychedelic-colored fluid dresses, and wide leg denim pants. The prints were inspired by Playa de los Muertos, an LGBTQ+ friendly beach where Elizabeth Taylor’s The Night of the Iguana was filmed.

A color palette that included ocean blue and earth tones symbolized the region’s natural beauty. “Mexico is surrounded by coasts. Our weather is primarily warm. We sweat. Our fabrics are cotton, linen, hand weaving,” added Flores. “Olmos y Flores was born as and from a family.” Well, this one feels just like that.
