Nordstrom cranked up the New York Fashion Week party scene by throwing the ultimate Big Apple-themed party on Wednesday night to celebrate the launch of their latest brand campaign that highlights their Manhattan flagship store as the go-to destination for everything a New Yorker could need.
Chief merchandising officer Jamie Nordstrom hosted an intimate group of well-dressed guests gathered at Wolf—the retailer’s chic restaurant located on the second floor of the NYC flagship store—and provided plenty of indulging classic New York City treats that included hot dogs, bagels with lox and cream cheese and bite-sized New York-style cheesecake shaped as red apples. As for drinks? Of course, Manhattan cocktails were poured.
The campaign, titled “Nordstrom For Everything New York,” honors iconic New York locations and features a cast of famous New Yorkers like Spike Lee, Amy Sedaris, John Turturro, model Devyn Garcia, and stylist Kate Young, who also dressed the talent for the advertisement. Though Young has crafted some of the most jaw-dropping red carpet looks for many of her clients, which include Margot Robbie, Selena Gomez, and Scarlett Johansson, she had numerous pinch-me moments while working on the Nordstrom project. “I’m a New Yorker, and working with Amy Sedaris and Spike Lee was really fun. These are people that I worship,” she told Vogue while taking a brief moment from socializing with friends. “When we fit Spike, we fit him in his studio, which is like a museum. He collected all this incredible stuff and gave us a tour. He talked us through every painting he had, every piece of memorabilia, and it was really incredible.”
In the ad, Young styled Sedaris in an elegant, checkered Comme des Garçons overcoat, and the actress wore it to the party. While mingling, Sedaris shared that her favorite New York City destination is Madison Square Park. “Whenever I go ou,t I bring a bag of mixed nuts for the squirrels, and then I give the nuts to other people,” she said. “I especially love Madison Square Park squirrels. They are friendly, and they really come to you. I’m a squirrel person, and I have nothing bad to say about squirrels!”
Joseph Altuzarra stopped by the party and shared that the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center is his favorite place in the city. “I got married there. I was recently just there, and honestly, I hadn’t been there in 10 years since I got married,” he said. “It got me thinking, we should come here every year like on our anniversary or just to celebrate. It’s a really great place to go.”
