Still, her zip-up jacket and tweed-style trousers were super elevated, along with her padded heels and monogrammed bag. “After actually wearing the pieces, I realized even more how refined the details are: It’s not just casual,” says the star. “There are so many elements incorporated into the design, so I hope this look was able to express that kind of multifaceted charm.” Call it a spring renewal, but the star adds that she has been more willing to take risks and try something different with her wardrobe lately. “I love all kinds of fashion styles,” she says. “Since cutting my hair short, I feel like it’s become easier to balance different styles, which has made fashion even more fun for me.”
As for what Hoshi was able to see in the City of Light once the show wrapped? The actor did a little sightseeing, of course. “I went to see the Eiffel Tower and did some shopping around town, making sure to check out brands that don’t have stores in Japan,” says Hoshi. Her highlight, however, was paying a visit to the Impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings at the Musée de l’Orangerie. “I felt as if I was able to connect with Claude Monet’s work on a more spiritual level,” Hoshi says.
But now, it’s back to set for Hoshi, who is currently preparing for season two of Shōgun and brand new role, too. “I’m currently in the preparation period for a Japanese movie,” she says. “Before filming starts, I’ll spend my time memorizing lines, watching movies that might be useful as references, and thinking about my character.”
