Madelyn Cline Counts ‘Friends’ Characters as Her Style Inspiration

The mission? Styling three different looks with just one pair of jeans. The occasions? A polished outfit for coffee with friends, a sharp work meeting look, and chic date night ensemble. Is Madelyn Cline up to the task?

For Vogue’s new series “Ready, Set, Style,” the Outer Banks star pulls together three distinct outfits in under 60 seconds. Cline is all about efficiency, immediately ditching her shoes so she can run through Arcade Vintage in Los Angeles. “I don’t know what I’m looking for—I’m just looking for a vibe!” she says as she breathlessly tears through the racks, stuffing her Vogue tote full of clothes. “So far I have a bunch of shirts, and so far I’m still looking for a bunch of shirts.”

Cline returns with her arms full of Manolo Blahniks, John Galliano, “some brat green cowboy boots,” and a pair of purple oval sunglasses. “Do these make me look like a Beatle?” she asks.

For her coffee date, Cline keeps it casual in a white vintage Mickey Mouse tee and her light-wash, wide-legged jeans, but she made sure to add some pizazz with a gold Chanel chain belt. The actor’s wardrobe, she says, is a healthy mix of vintage and contemporary pieces. “I think it’s really fun to put all of those pieces and elements together because then an outfit has a story,” she says.
