It was a quiet Thursday night along Santa Monica’s usually buzzing Ocean Avenue, as the crowds had already begun their annual migration east for Coachella’s opening weekend. But high above the palm-lined streets, a stylish gathering took shape at San Vicente Bungalows, where Louis Vuitton hosted an intimate cocktail to toast its latest footwear launch: the LV Sneakerina.
A hybrid of ballet flat and low-profile sneaker, the Sneakerina is this season’s answer to the sleek, celeb-approved alternative to bulky soles. On the feet of tastemakers like Courtney Trop, Tashi Rodriguez, and Charlotte Lawrence, the shoe made its fashionable debut, while DJs Ladies of Leisure spun tracks into the night.
Each guest styled the silhouette in their own way: Devon Ross opted for silver grained calf leather, Phoebe Dynevor kept things crisp in bright white, and the ever-coordinated Haim sisters—Este, Danielle, and Alana—stepped out in matching forest green.
“We’re always telling the same story in different ways,” Danielle told Vogue, describing the sisters’ fashion chemistry. “I lean into casual, menswear vibes. You’ll probably always catch me in pants.”
“I love dresses and skirts,” Este chimed in. “I like knowing I can cartwheel or throw in a high kick if the moment calls for it.”
As for Alana? “I was never into the bulky sneaker trend—sorry, it just wasn’t for me,” she said. “We’ve been into sleek sneakers like these for a while. I love the kind of squared-off toe.”
Guests—including stylists Jamie Mizrahi and Elizabeth Stewart, plus Vogue cover star Elaine Irwin—drifted to the starlit terrace, wrapping themselves in LV-monogrammed blankets as conversation turned to weekend plans. While the Haim sisters have long been Coachella mainstays, they were skipping the festival this year. Instead, talk turned nostalgic.
“We used to get everything from thrift stores like Out of the Closet,” Alana recalled. “We’d cut things up, wear sailor pants as shorts or a skirt as a tube dress.”
That irreverent DIY spirit—equal parts practicality and punk—still informs their sensibility today, even when clad in head-to-toe Vuitton. “It’s so full circle,” Danielle added with a laugh. “Back then, I just wanted to look like a Nicolas Ghesquière girl at Coachella. I was trying to emulate his vision. And now, almost 20 years later, I’m still obsessed.”
