What is your fetiche of choice? For those whose kink involves immersing themselves in a bed of rose petals—Mena Suvari style—Louboutin had just the right kind of night in store for them. The French maison, known for dialing things up, took over Chez Margaux’s private Gaux Gaux club room on Wednesday evening to unveil the new floral-inspired addition to its Fétiche fragrance collection.
The Meatpacking private member’s club already takes its nod from 1930s Paris, but for the occasion, Louboutin kicked things up a gear by transforming the subterranean hotspot into a flower-filled supper soirée. As a label, Louboutin is always a little decadent and delicious, thanks to its sky-high stilettos and fun flats, which tend to have fans salivating at the mouth and coveting more. As such, food that both tasted and looked good was integral to the dark, moody, and sexy celebration.
For those who like to watch (!), artist Laila Gohar was enlisted for her signature brand of edible creations. At one point, Gohar rolled out a towering sculpture of a scarlet cake made up of intricately-carved petals—its color also bringing to mind those famous soles. Kitted out in an organza dress by Simone Rocha, which had ombré pink and white roses trapped underneath its hip panniers, the evening’s host had evidently been eating, sleeping, and breathing all things flowers in the leadup to the immersive event.
As the plush venue swilled with art world fixtures, editors in chiefs, and Instagram’s leading beauty authorities, attendees eased in with a cocktail while they sampled the latest scent; a sensual, silky blend of rose, black cherry, ginger, pink pepper, amber, and patchouli.
Why have a step and repeat when you can have a lie down and repeat? In an adjoining nook, the velvet banquettes had been lined with crimson and burgundy petals—making for a perfect photo backdrop to recline against. In a wet-look sequin T-back maxi dress by Ronny Kobo, Kiwi supermodel Georgia Fowler was among the first to dive in and set the standard when it came to poses. In a distinctively Jenna Lyons outfit, Jenna Lyons followed suit, lounging nonchalantly in denim, leather, a shirt and undone tie, and a glossy pair of Louboutin’s classic So Kate pumps.
