In the fashion world, fall means one thing: Coat season. No matter which time of year you prefer, one cannot resist the universal appeal of a good power coat. The fall runways were filled with sleek outerwear for all tastes, whether you fancy a Bottega leather top coat, or a chic wooly from Prada. They were concrete proof that a good statement coat completes, and instantly elevates, any outfit. Someone else who understands the power of outerwear? Kylie Jenner, who put her own twist on a statement coat while out and about in Calabasas yesterday.
Instead of a classic trench, Jenner opted for a more cropped version, complete with additional buckles and extra-wide sleeves. Hitting well above the knee, the jacket perfectly complemented her leather mini skirt. To offset the two shortened silhouettes, Jenner then completed the look with a pair of high leather knee boots, as well as a discrete bag and thick black glasses. (Very Lois Lane of her.)
Now, popular wisdom may have told you to offset a mini skirt with a longer coat, but Jenner’s styling approach clearly shows that—sometimes—two shortened pieces can go a long way.
