I’m currently rewatching the original Gossip Girl and — wow — Blair Waldorf and Jenny Humphrey were really out there wearing tights every other episode. And we’re not talking inconspicuous black tights here — we’re talking vivid purple tights and opaque white tights (!!) and Big Bird yellow tights.
While I can fully respect and appreciate them for the early aughts, colorful tights are not charming me in 2025.
And yes, I know our girl Taylor Swift wore red tights to the Chiefs game yesterday. I’m still not charmed. (Yet, anyway.)
But it’s so cold right now. Bare legs are not an option, yet I still want to wear my mini skirts.
So, here we go. Caroline “Never Been a Tights Person” is trying fleece lined tights.
At first, I tried them with a plaid skirt — it’s a look I love on others, but it felt too school uniform for me once I was wearing it. I knew if I was going to make this work, I needed to go suuuuper simple.
So I ended up doing all black on bottom (black tights, boots, and mini skirt) with a grey sweatshirt on top. Finished it off with a cream ball cap and scarf (the one I recklessly cut in half the other day!).
And I gotta say — I’m liking it!
We’ll see if I advance into more adventurous styling, but for now I’m really liking the ultra-simple, pared-back look.
Do you wear tights? If so, I would love to hear how you style them! Let me know in the comments.
