Give the Gift of Art This Holiday Season

art by Anne Abueva

Since moving to Charleston I have been blown away by the incredible number of artists and creatives in the South. When we decorated our home, I knew I wanted to invest in art that reflected our beautiful city and where we live! It has been so much fun to learn more about local artists, discover what type of art we like (and what makes us happy in our home!), play around with different styles in different rooms and really just start building our collection. One of my greatest resources in my own art journey has been the Artist Collective, a local gallery that supports local artists and makes collecting art affordable (and fun!!).

Founded in 2010 by contemporary art expert Allison Williamson, the Artist Collective has a mission to offer patrons a highly curated selection of original local artwork while supporting the communities it serves.  From abstracts and landscapes to representational works, the Artist Collective features a broad range of artistic styles and is a favorite resource for art lovers, collectors, and interior designers across the United States. Artist Collective Founder, Allison Williamson has a great eye and has been great at helping us curate the right pieces for our home. Artist Collective “gives back” as an active member of the local communities it serves, donating a portion of sales to non-profit causes from children’s initiatives to the environment. This month, the Artist Collective is supporting Hurricane Helene relief efforts in Western North Carolina.

What is amazing about the Artist Collective is that you can shop all of their pieces online! The Artist Collective is headquartered in Charleston, SC with studios in Atlanta, Nashville, Washington, DC and Palm Beach – representing over 80 of the Southeast’s most talented artists.

Speaking from experience, I can sometimes get in my head about home decor, especially art. It can be a big investment and hard to know what will fit in your space. But I’ve learned that you really need to lean into the pieces that spark joy. Whether it is the colors, the brush stroke, the scene, the item, the meaning behind the peace – find what you connect with. Or reach out to the Artist Collective and have Allison and her amazing team help you decorate your space.
