These Gen Z creatives have built their empires on making you drool over the stuff in their closets—so what’s on their own wish lists? Spoiler alert on some of my favorites: tomato-shaped menorahs, viral Coach handbags, and diamond-encrusted Patek Phillipe watches. Whatever it is, these six trendsetters know what’s worth coveting this season. Below, discover what Gen Z editors, stylists, and influencers have on their lists in 2024.
Jalil Johnson is a fashion creator and the author of the Consider Yourself Cultured Substack newsletter.
“This holiday season, I’m focusing on thoughtful, intentional gifts—things I know my loved ones will truly appreciate and use rather than small, frivolous items. For example, my boyfriend’s brother is a big Disney fan, so I found him a vintage Disney World sweatshirt from one of my favorite stores, Front Street General Store. As for my boyfriend, I’m on the hunt for that perfect piece to complete his wardrobe, like a great pair of shoes or a new tote.
“For myself, I’m focusing more on the home since my boyfriend and I are moving soon. That said, who can resist a fabulous new coat, a great pair of shoes, or something to add to my growing jewelry collection? It’s all about finding meaningful pieces that spark joy and feel purposeful.”
Sherman Field
Tahitian Drop Pearl Double Pendant, 18K Yellow Gold, Small
“As a June baby, pearls are my birthstone, and I once read (possibly on Tumblr!) that wearing your birthstone can unlock your full potential and energy. While I usually gravitate toward baroque pearls, I’ve been captivated by Tahitian pearls since summer.”
By Malene Birger
Dalimas Wool Coat
“I first spotted this coat in the tan color on Leandra Medine Cohen last year and instantly fell in love. Sadly, it was sold out by the time I tried to buy it. When they reissued it in black, I knew I had to have it. The retro shape and trim make it the perfect coat to throw on for quick errands while still looking polished.”
Hawkins New York
Handmade Leather Slippers in Blue
“While putting together my gift guide, I stumbled upon these stunning slippers in a vibrant blue with a rounded toe. I couldn’t resist—they immediately went into my cart after I hit publish. I’m even considering adding a sole to make them outdoor-appropriate because they’re just too good to keep indoors.”
Bally
Plume Bootie In Ebano Suede
“My boot collection could use some love, and these beauties would be the perfect addition. Bally has been on a roll with their footwear these past few seasons, and this pair feels like a fresh and essential upgrade for my wardrobe.”
Susan Alexandra
Heirloom Tomato Menorah
“This year marks my first official Hanukkah as a convert, and I’m gathering all the essentials for the celebration. Susan’s humor and whimsy speak to me, and since I adore tomatoes, this menorah feels like a perfect fit.”
Kayla Curtis-Evans is a New York–based fashion editor with work in Hypebeast, Vogue Business, and i-D magazine.
“This holiday season, I’m really excited to give some super-personalized gifts. As I get older, I really value the quality time I get with friends and family around me, and I always want to show them my appreciation for their love through thoughtful gifts. As for receiving gifts, I’m definitely placing emphasis on self-care in this upcoming year, so my wish list reflects that—but of course I can’t resist some cute fashion finds, too.”
Hermès
Twilly d’Hermès Eau de Parfum
“Everyone always talks about ‘signature scents,’ and I never really aligned with that concept until I found Hermès Twilly. I would alternate between different fragrances that caught my eye all the time until I tried this scent and got stopped on the street, in Ubers, at the grocery store—you name it—to ask what scent I was wearing. Now I’m completely married to it and I couldn’t see myself wearing any other perfume! It’s pretty sweet, which is what I usually gravitate towards, but it has subtle notes of pink peppercorn as well to balance things out.”
Sandy Liang
Sirius Shirt in Pink Stripe
“I love a button-down. But a Sandy Liang button-down is the cool-girl twist on a polished classic. The Sirius Shirt’s star motif gives it a little edge, and I could see myself pairing this with a miniskirt or baggy jeans and a slingback heel.”
Josie Maran
Whipped Argan Oil Refillable Firming Body Butter Jar
“Especially in the winter, there’s nothing like a product that keeps you locked and loaded with moisture all day long. This product literally makes you feel as soft as a baby, but its main ingredient, argan oil, also gives you a little glow that’s perfect for the winter months where your skin can be a little more dull-looking and needs a boost.”
Gustaf Westman Objects
Off-White Chunky Cup & Saucer
“I’ve been a fan of Westman’s work for a while now. I love the whimsicality of his creative outlook, and the chunky cup is a good entry point into his world. I am also a huge tea fan, so I figured what better vessel to drink my morning tea out of than a Gustav Westman piece?”
“A bag like the Swing Zip is truly a bag that does it all! It has straps long enough that I can ‘swing’ it over my shoulder, it’s worn-in Glovetanned leather gives it that vintage feel, and it’s elongated silhouette is the perfect size for whatever I need to carry. I think the red option is super cute for the holidays.”
Madé Lapuerta is a trend analyst and analytics creator behind the viral @databutmakeitfashion Instagram account.
“I absolutely love giving gifts. Gift giving is my love language (words of affirmation who??), and because I have such a big family, holiday gifts are always a really fun way to think about what each person individually might enjoy and how I can show my understanding of and appreciation for them.
“I love gifting anything that might become a staple in someone’s style, home, or routine; things that are versatile, easy, and good quality. Like a coffee table book on someone’s favorite subject (I recently gifted my best friend Julia the Sofia Coppola Archive book), or a high-quality T-shirt I know my hard-to-buy-for younger brother will definitely wear. I’ll also never stop gifting my girl friends a copy of Dolly Alderton’s Everything I Know About Love, which has been a staple on my bookshelf for many years! As for receiving, I adore receiving books. I always say the best way I learned about fashion was through reading—really the best way I learned about anything was through reading. My mom gifted me Chanel’s Riviera one Christmas, and my sister once also got me The Little Dictionary of Christian Dior. It makes me feel loved and grateful that people notice and remember the topics I enjoy.”
Acne Studios
Mohair Checked Scarf
“For anyone that lives in colder winter climates (hello, my fellow New Yorkers!), a large, staple scarf is a wonderful gift that can be cherished for a long time. Check out ACNE Studios’ plaid scarves for a splurge (I adore mine) or a vintage Burberry plaid scarf for a more nostalgic-but-still-very-in-right-now look.”
Anine Bing
Harvey Cotton Logo Hoodie
“For more of a splurge, think about gifting a nice, cosy, ‘designer’ hoodie. Anine Bing’s logo hoodies have remained quite popular among city girls for a couple of years now. My current personal favorites, however, are hoodies from NYC-based, Mexican-American designer Willy Chavarria for a more streetwear, if-you-know-you-know vibe.”
“Anyone who says the Adidas Sambas sneakers are ‘out’ is simply confused. Not only have the Sambas kept their popularity over the last couple of years; they’re also (speaking from experience) very comfortable and versatile. I’d recommend getting them in either white or black for an everyday sneaker or in one of the colorful (like lilac purple) shades for a fun addition to a loved one’s wardrobe. I wouldn’t mind another pair of these under the Christmas tree!”
Makeup By Mario
Ultra Suede Sculpting Lip Pencil
“Lip liner has truly been the makeup product of the year in 2024. This is an easy, more budget-friendly gift any friend can enjoy. And you can never have too many! My personal favorite is the nude beige shade Dmitry from Makeup by Mario, which I purchased at Sephora.”
Ruby Lyn is a content creator and fashion It girl with a combined audience of over 1.2 million followers.
“I absolutely adore the holiday season. I am definitely more of a gift giver than receiver, but I was able to think a of a few items I would love to be given this year. Growing up, it would make me so happy to tap into very niche aspects of someone and get them a gift that is truly personal to them. Personally, I like to receive gifts that I would never buy myself, whether it’s because I don’t think I should be spending copious amounts of money on a candle or passport holder or because I will only wear said item a handful of times. Regardless, I still want them in my possession haha. A lot of my wish-list items are elevated everyday items. Adding a personalization of some sort always makes an item feel a little more luxurious and special.”
“Anything from Fruity Booty, one of my fav independent brands based out of London!! Such incredible quality and super-flattering pieces. I’d recommend to all.”
Slip
Black Contour Sleep Mask
“I wear a sleeping mask every night, so I’d love to receive a silk embroidered sleeping mask with my initials on it. I would take that thing everywhere with me!”
Gucci
Women’s Slim Horsebit Boot
“These are stunning, practical, and chic. I’ve been eyeing these for a while now.”
Saint Laurent
Tiny Cassandre Credit Card Wallet
“This has been on my wish list for a while now… a cute passport holder. I travel so much and have the ugliest passport case you have ever seen. It need to change immediately.”
Natalie Parvizian is a cusp millennial–Gen Z New York–based personal stylist focused on the luxury and trends-driven market.
“For me, I love gifting comfy, stylish pajamas or little home accents like trays, candles, or personalized jewelry. Also in the spirit of the coziest time of a year, I love a designer beanie, scarf, or headpiece. It’s always a special item that people love to receive. When it comes to my own wish list, I tend to gravitate toward luxury investment pieces, like a vintage collectible watch or a hard-to-get handbag. I love a smart investment gift that holds its value and can be cherished for years to come.”
Negative Underwear
Whipped Henley in Espresso
“I can’t rave about these enough. They’ve become my go-to gift for friends over the past year because they’re the perfect combination of luxurious, comfortable, and flattering. I own them in every color, and I firmly believe the best gift is something you’d buy for yourself. These pajamas are a must-have.”
Loewe
Tuberose Scented Candle
“This is the perfect gift for the person who has everything. Chic and neutral, it doubles as a stunning décor piece and a functional candle. I received one over the summer, and it was such a thoughtful pick-me-up! The design and fragrance make it an effortless addition to any space.”
“I’m obsessed with Chanel’s winter accessories, especially their earmuffs, beanies, and headbands. These don’t necessarily break the bank compared to other Chanel items and make such a fun and thoughtful gift, whether you’re treating a mountain lover or someone who lives in a chilly city. They’re playful yet chic and elevate any winter outfit effortlessly.”
Hermès
Kelly Pochette Clutch Bag in Bordeaux Crocodile, Jewel Toned Palladium
“This is at the very top of my wish list when it comes to bags. Burgundy is everywhere on Instagram right now, and I love how it works for evening events or a casual jeans-and-T-shirt look. It’s truly a holy-grail piece. I’m particularly drawn to pre-owned options because rare colors like this are even more unattainable.”
Patek Philippe
Nautilus 7010/1R-012 Quartz Rose Gold Diamond Bezel
“I’m currently obsessed with gold vintage watches in mini, dainty sizes. A watch is one of my favorite gifts to receive—it’s timeless, elegant, and can be passed down through generations. The older it is, the more charm it carries. My sister wears my dad’s gold vintage Piaget watch from the ’80s, and it’s such a meaningful heirloom. I’d love to add a piece like this to my collection.”
Ana Escalante is Who What Wear’s assistant shopping editor and the voice behind the site’s Gen Z Says fashion column.
“This holiday season, I’m really focusing on gifting (and receiving!) extremely practical yet lust-worthy items that I know would be well-loved and fit seamlessly into my personal style and wardrobe. Think classic coats, timeless shoes, and chic, affordable accessories to spice up one of my basic go-to looks. As a fashion editor, I get a ton of products and items every day of the year due to the nature of the job, but this year, I’m asking for those incredibly specific pieces I’ve been on the hunt for and have never been able to replicate—for example, that one designer buy-it-for-life trench coat that can’t possibly compete with the fast fashion ones I’ve cycled through the past five years. Plus, there’s a ton of affordable yet fun small gifts for my stocking I’m crossing my fingers that my family gets me.”
“I’ve been loving this Coach trench recently as I’ve let go of my other trusted trench after she accomplished the job for over eight years. I’m trying to level up in 2025— swapping out my favorite pieces in my closet with high-quality investments that feel (and look!) better. Plus, Coach, in my opinion, is one of the most exciting brands to usher in a new breath of fresh air when it comes to redefining youthful, fun aesthetics. If someone doesn’t buy this for me this holiday season, I’ll probably just end up buying it for myself.”
Victoria Beckham Beauty
The Concealer Pen
“I, in good conscience, can’t ask my loved ones to willingly spend $68 on a concealer, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think about it. This Victoria Beckham concealer has been going viral across all of my social media platforms since earlier this autumn, and my curiosity is at an all-time high. It’s made with Augustinus Bader’s rich anti-aging and skincare-first philosophy, meaning this makeup is actually good for you. I’m sold.”
“I can never say no to a sweet claw clip, and while I already have several from Swedish DTC brand Selór, I want more. This tortoise color feels so versatile and easy to style.”
Khaite
Nevada Stretch Low Boot in Black Nappa Leather
“I’ve been on the hunt for a perfect black boot for years. Each of the ones I’ve tried has been short something—maybe they’re too soft or hard, too narrow, or the heel was uncomfortable. After trying out these Khaite boots on a whim at the store’s New York flagship, I was sold. Of course, spending over $1000 on a pair of black boots seems preposterous to me, so they’ve sat at the top of my wish list for months. While you can find similar ones at a fraction of the price, I’ve always subscribed to the idea that if you want something good, you’re going to have to pay premium for it—and these Khaite boots are the perfect example.”
Sandy Liang
Regalo Socks in Butter
“Socks? For Christmas? It may not be groundbreaking, but it sure is good. This Sandy Liang pair is so cute and incredibly Gen Z without breaking the bank. As one of the biggest designers who speaks to me and other fashion editors of my age range, it would be a crime to not have Sandy on my list somewhere.”
