While the ’60s was known for its backcombed bouffants and brushed back bobs, about midway through the decade, Brigitte Bardot brought pigtails into the beauty zeitgeist. Her blonde hair, with a heightened crown and parted softly in the middle, roughly textured, was fastened with two bows. For the premiere of the similarly set Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, Elle Fanning revives the pigtails style with a sense of that same soft ’60s glamor.
Fanning appeared at the Los Angeles premiere of A Complete Unknown; Styled by longterm collaborator Samantha McMillen, she wore a cream and crystal embellished, backless Gucci gown that reflected the time period. Hairstylist Jenda Alcorn, who regularly works with both Elle and sister Dakota, brought the loose pigtails together with crystal bobbles to just skim her shoulders. The crown of her head was gathered up in a pouf, pinned at the back with a silver bow for more height and dimension. Bangs were subtly side parted.
