Is there a cooler person clip-clopping around L.A. right now than Doechii? Probably not. The rapper, who was Doja Cat and SZA’s favorite rapper before she was yours, went stratospheric last year after that Tiny Desk Concert. But it’s her style that really pushes her into music’s upper echelons. In 2022, when we asked her to describe her fashion sense in two words she said: “C**t. That’s one word. C**t x 2.”
Still true. The rapper was recently pictured on her way to an L.A. dance studio in not one but two thongs, mega-oversized trackies, kitten heels and… leg warmers. These are not the leg warmers of your aunt’s 1980s aerobic videos though, or even the leg warmers of the 2022 TikTok revival. These are more like the scissored socks we’ve seen creeping into fashion over the past year or so. Think: kitten heels stabbing through beige stockings at Natasha Zinko spring 2024 show, or those grey socks-turned-leg warmers that Lotta Volkova wore to the Miu Miu dinner at Paris Fashion Week in October, with a hint of the leg warmers that were all over Chanel’s 2024 resort collection. Essentially, Doechii has her Bayonetta specs focussed firmly on accessory trends.
