At the Vogue Vintage Market, Gigi Hadid, Emma Chamberlain, and Cynthia Erivo Shop for a Cause

Mere minutes into Vogue’s Vintage Market, one of its most recognizable pieces—a blue-and-white floral John Galliano slip dress donated by Emily Rockefeller that Anna Wintour wore to the 1996 Met Gala—was already off the market. The buyer? None other than the sale’s host, Gigi Hadid. “I don’t know how this all happened but I chose three pieces I didn’t know were once Anna’s,” Hadid says from the checkout line at Roll & Hill in SoHo.

Other friends of Vogue joined the April cover star to shop the sale an hour before doors officially opened. Hadid greeted Cynthia Erivo with a jubilant shriek and a hug before posing for photos. Chase Sui Wonders and her sister Jeannie perused the Chanel tweed jackets, while designers Willy Chavarria and Tory Burch held court by the checkout line. Elsewhere, on the second floor, Emma Chamberlain slung a pair of pinstripe pants around her neck, explaining the correlation between neck width and waistbands.

Hadid admits that she doesn’t go shopping very often—but she’ll make an exception for the Vogue Vintage Market. “To be able to do this to raise money and get special pieces feels really good,” she says. Indeed, 100% of the proceeds will benefit victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. Attendees were able to shop from the closets of Kendall Jenner, Cindy Crawford, Katie Holmes, Helena Christensen, Vittoria Ceretti—not to mention pieces from eBay, hand-selected by Hadid, Chamberlain, Anok Yai, Kaia Gerber, Paloma Elsesser, among others.

As she prepared to check out, Hadid had slipped Wintour’s brown Schiaparelli robe coat over her yellow polka-dot top and jeans. “I’m trying to bargain with her,” she jokes. She wasn’t the only one who left wearing a new purchase: Priscilla Yael of Pechuga Vintage strutted around the store in a pair of Marc Jacobs Kiki boots donated by the designer himself, while Irene Kim, Vogue Runway’s production and editorial associate, left in an entirely new outfit. Talk about commitment to the cause!
