We’re still a few days out from New York Fashion Week, but Anya Taylor-Joy just set the bar. Doing press for her upcoming film The Gorge, the actor peacocked about in a show-stopping coat the same color as her icy blonde hair.
Taylor-Joy’s outrageously fluffy shearling coat hails from Seán McGirr’s fall 2024 collection for Alexander McQueen (his first for the house)—and fetches a pretty penny at $13,000. Appropriately named the “exploding shearling coat,” the jacket’s mini hemline and extreme lapels were reminiscent of a majestic cockatoo. Taylor-Joy opted for an elongated line, pairing the thigh-grazing coatdress with a pair of nude pointy-toe pumps.
Later in the day, Taylor-Joy changed into something a bit more mobile. In a concerted effort to revive the skirt suit among the younger generation (joining the ranks of Mikey Madison and Lily-Rose Depp), she wore two sets. The first was a houndstooth plaid two-piece with a miniskirt and a ladylike button-up jacket, which she paired with black knee-high boots. Sticking to the same formula, she swapped her houndstooth set for a mod Celine moment in a gray wool skirt suit with contrasting white pockets and trim, which she coordinated with white knee-high boots.
As if there’s not enough to love about Anya Taylor-Joy, we appreciate that the actor is game for a major fashion risk. In her voluminous McQueen coat, she more than met the moment.
