Anne Sofie Madsen Spring 2016 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Editor’s Note: Trained at the Royal Danish Academy, Anne Sofie Madsen ran her namesake label from 2011 to 2017, when she put it on pause. For fall 2025, she is picking up where she left off, and to mark her return to fashion we are adding some of Madsen’s past collections to the Vogue Runway archive.

The mythological element of Anne Sofie Madsen’s work ceded to fashion history, for spring 2016. Without being directly referential, the designer’s linked dresses, mirror embellishments, and use of a novelty print featuring planets, were vaguely Space Agey, while corset denim, wide pants, and D-ring straps felt slightly punk. Flasher coats were slashed open and latex added a fetish element to a collection, titled Come Undone, that addressed the binary “between the admitted desire to dress and the un-admitted desire to undress.”
