Anne Sofie Madsen Fall 2017 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Editor’s Note: Trained at the Royal Danish Academy, Anne Sofie Madsen ran her namesake label from 2011 to 2017, when she put it on pause. For fall 2025, she is picking up where she left off, and to mark her return to fashion we are adding some of Madsen’s past collections to the Vogue Runway archive.

The futurism and romance of Anne Sofie Madsen’s spring and fall 2016 collections, respectively, come together in this fall 2017 lineup. Some models wear clear goggle-like glasses and protective down pieces, while others sport trench coats dripping with diamanté or coat dresses with luxuriously romantic sleeves à la the Age of Enlightenment. For all the couture touches there was a cool-girl vibe to roomy denims and a fur collared jacket with corset-laced sleeves. Esben Weile Kjær, a Danish artist and friend of Madsen’s, is responsible for the papier mache footwear, made of upcycled newspapers and tape. Per the show notes, these “luxury pieces with an ephemeral quality, shift the conversation around value.”
