You’ve heard me say it before: summer is my season, and I kinda dread the shorter days and chilly weather of autumn + winter.
But here’s the big question — am I turning this into a self-fulfilling prophecy?
As fall approaches, I’m realizing that I might be making things harder on myself by running this script in my head.
So I’m doing a little probing here. Is there really so much to dread? I suppose not. Do I actually hate fall? No! Aren’t there some things I enjoy about fall? For sure!
The shorter days can make me feel a little blue, but maybe I can view it as an invitation to slow down and prioritize rest. Maybe the earlier sunsets can be an opportunity to enjoy the glimmer of candles in the evenings. Does anyone remember years ago, when I’d share my candle lighting ritual on Instagram each day at sunset? It helped ease the transition from day to night. I think it’s time to bring that ritual back.
So, with you as my witness, I am gently shifting my focus from what makes me nervous about the upcoming season to what makes me excited.
