There’s been no shortage of starry parties over the course of Paris Fashion Week. Another to add to the list? The intimate soirée held by Chioma Nnadi, British Vogue’s head of editorial content, and South African superstar Tyla at Bar des Prés by Cyril Lignac to celebrate the singer’s March 2025 cover.
As guests, including Alexa Chung, Ice Spice, Jill Kortleve and Devyn Garcia, mainly dressed in black—because of course this is Paris and it is fashion week—began to arrive at the dimly lit 8th arrondissement restaurant, the air became infused with an intoxicating charge of joy, laughter and pure unadulterated fun. It very quickly spilled out onto the sidewalk, giving it the feel of a super chic house party. Conversation and Ruinart flowed, as did cocktails—Tokyo Garden, a gin, shiso and yuzu mix proved very popular. The French meets Japanese-style food was also on point: the crispy rice, salmon and yellowtail chipotle, slow-cooked Black Pearl beef with black garlic and crunchy crab galettes highlighted exactly why the restaurant has become a hotspot with gastronomes.
Add to the mix the music, an R&B, Afrobeats and Amapiano mash-up spun by DJ Zezi Ifore, the atmosphere was rousing. If the energy in the room was electric, when Tyla suddenly appeared at 9 p.m., that energy went through the roof. Adorned in a minidress by Jean Paul Gaultier that juxtaposed black tailoring with white tulle and lace stockings, the queen of popiano, flanked by her family, literally danced her way into and through the party. She only stopped long enough to express her delight at being on the cover of Vogue. “It’s literally insane. I remember just looking at all the Vogue covers when I was younger and hoping maybe one day I would grace the cover of Vogue. So I’m really blessed to be on the cover of British Vogue. It is,” she added with a cheeky smile, “very very sexy! Okay enough of that, let’s start the party again!” At which point “Push 2 Start” came on, leading the singer to give everyone a mini impromptu show. Of course, the crowd went wild, dancing and singing along with her (at one point guests were dancing on the peacock-fabric banquettes).
The revelries continued into the night, with Tyla dancing some more—including to her hit song “Water” and Beyoncé’s “Heated,” which she sang word for word. The arrival of the most exquisite cake tower of chocolate marshmallows decorated with sparklers marked the crescendo at the top of the night. Shortly after, she—along with the rest of the room—whooped at the magnificence of the dessert, Tyla left the party exactly as she arrived: dancing.
