If you have an “ultimate bangs inspiration” board, it probably looks like this: Françoise Hardy, Jane Birkin, Brigette Bardot. Well, as of today, actor Daisy Edgar Jones should be back on that board, thanks to hairstylist Cervando Maldonado.
“Daisy’s hair grew out while she was on her last project,” Maldonado says, referring to the actor’s role as Maggie in a production of Tennessee Williams’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Almeida in London. “We decided to do a full fringe with face-framing layers for spring.” The inspirations? Birkin and Hardy, of course. (Celebrities are, indeed, just like us sometimes.) “They have such classic-cool style,” Maldonado adds.

The trim-and-transformation didn’t take long: Just an hour or so in sunny Los Angeles, and Edgar-Jones was back to the style that we first saw and loved her in during her Normal People days. To finish the look, Maldonado worked a bit of Oribe mousse into her hair from root to tip, then used different sized round brushes throughout (smaller in the bangs for a flatter effect, larger on longer lengths). The result was effortlessly tousled.
The cherry on top of this sweet return to form? “One of my favorite features of Daisy is her beautiful eyes,” the hairstylist notes. “This fringe with face-framing layers really highlights them.”
