Rihanna rang in her 37th birthday in style last night at The Nice Guy in West Hollywood. Though she has no shortage of high-octane looks—ranging from glamorous full-length coats paired with jeans to skintight LBDs—the Fenty founder chose to match with her partner, A$AP Rocky, in coordinating suiting looks.
For her birthday dinner, Rih wore a brown double-breasted blazer with peak lapels and structured shoulders, a white button-up, and slim black trousers. She added a feminine touch to the menswear-inspired outfit with a black leather shoulder bag, extreme pointy-toe pumps, and a berry lip. But two of Rihanna’s accessories were a perfect match with Rocky’s: a burgundy necktie with thin diagonal stripes and a pair of chunky black Ray-Bans. (The glasses were no accident. Today, Rocky was announced as the first-ever creative director for Ray-Bans, with their first collaboration expected in spring.)

Rocky stuck to his usual suiting for the occasion. (Often in Saint Laurent, it’s likely that they were both wearing the French label.) He also opted for a double-breasted blazer—his in gray—over a white button-up and a pair of black trousers. But he chose to add an additional layer, wearing a light khaki trench coat over his suiting.
The rapper has gained attention for his Saint Laurent-heavy suiting as of late. Earlier this week, Rocky was found not guilty in a felony assault trial. During the nearly month-long proceedings, his court style consisted of impeccably tailored suiting—much like what he wore to Rihanna’s birthday dinner. Now, with his recent not guilty verdict, he reminds us that his suiting was not just for show, but rather is consistent with his wardrobe year-round.
