Marisa Abela Channeled Her Inner Countess LuAnn at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards

When it came time for the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, Dior dressed Industry star Marisa Abela like a true princess. Well, in this case, maybe a countess: At awards shows, the actor likes to tap into her inner Bravolebrity—Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, specifically. “Be cool, don’t be all…like…uncool,” she says of her red carpet mantra, borrowed from the Real Housewife-slash-cabaret star. And it’s really only fitting, given that Abela’s character Yasmin Kara-Hanani ends season three of the HBO series on the brink of marrying into aristocracy.

In her day-to-day, Abela considers her style “simple and chic meets Mediterranean vampire.” She held onto some of that energy while celebrating Industry’s Critics Choice nomination for best drama series on Friday night, opting for a red wine-colored velvet dress with a corseted bodice and a dramatic flared ball skirt.

“[Dior] sent a bunch of sketches to my stylist Aimee Croysdill and we went through them together,” Abela tells Vogue of bringing the look to life. “This dress just stood out as classically elegant and beautiful, and the very thin spaghetti straps grave it this sexy, modern twist. I just fell in love with it immediately.”

While Industry is gearing up for its fourth season, the tight-knit cast never wastes a moment spent together. Win or lose, Abela looked forward to enjoying the evening with her castmates, including Myha’la and Sagar Radia. “The people make the celebration, and I can’t wait to just celebrate this moment with my friends,” she says. “I’m so grateful for and proud of them.”
