Nowadays it seems like every fashion house is in an arms race for an It bag—the Bottega Andiamo, the Miu Miu Aventure, the Alaïa Le Teckel… But Reese Witherspoon would rather return to a time-honored classic: the Fendi Peekaboo.
The actor carried a medium black Peekaboo in the crook of her elbow, a crossbody strap emblazoned with the telltale double-F Fendi logo hanging down beside her. The orange and black strap offered a subtle pop of color against Witherspoon’s all-black outfit. Keeping warm, she bundled up in a modular Marfa Stance jacket, a reversible collarless knee-length coat. While its other side is a quilted parka, she opted to wear the black wool side facing out, cinching her waist with a sash. Underneath her coat, Witherspoon wore an ankle-length black skirt and leather round-toe boots. She finished off her all-black look with black oval sunglasses and small gold hoop earrings.
It’s somewhat surprising that—given the recent cultural obsession with Hermès bags and belted silhouettes in general—the Fendi Peekaboo isn’t more popular. It has the if-you-know-you-know appeal and the fashion legacy, without feeling overexposed. If anything, Reese Witherspoon is making a strong push for its return.
