So, this scarf.
I’ve had it for years. Maybe eight? Maybe more.
But I never wear it.
For one thing, where I live, scarf weather is kinda rare.
But the main reason I don’t wear it? It’s a blanket scarf that could blanket the plains of Texas and have room left over. It’s too big! It’s too much fabric! It’s unmanageable!!
However, it’s freezing out right now. Below freezing, as a matter of fact — temps in the teens! We’re getting our rare scarf weather after all. Yesterday, I walked out my door, then bolted back inside to feverishly add more layers.
Beanie, check.
Gloves, check.
Scarf, oh no.
This is the only scarf I have and I kind of hate it.
I inspected it closely.
Leaving the scarf on the bed, I headed for the closet and reached up to plastic box on the top shelf. The box that holds my fancy sharp fabric shears. Gasp! Was I about to…?
I turned back to the scarf on the bed and hesitated, scissors in hand. This scarf was expensive! It’s nice! I don’t want to mess it u…
Wait, I never wear it anyway. The only chance this scarf has of being worn is for me to fold it in half, hot dog style, and cut it right now.
I did it and it worked. I’m not even entirely sure how, but it has not unraveled.
The scarf that I once kind of hated is now my favorite scarf. You’re seeing it post-cut. Doesn’t it look nice? And manageable?
Best part: now I have another half of an awesome scarf to give to a friend. 🙂
