8 Best New Beauty Products Actually Worth Trying, According to Vogue’s Beauty Editor

In the world of cosmetics, there’s always a handful of new beauty products to unearth. With reformulated classics, just-discovered ingredients, and high-tech tools released each month, understanding what to stock your vanity with can feel confusing. To help inform your buy, here we take a look at the new beauty arrivals worth knowing—and shopping.

Fall and winter are the shopping seasons of the year. Between holiday gifting, Black Friday, and the dopamine hit that is simply buying something just to alleviate the pre-wintertime blues, rounding up the best new beauty products of the last few weeks is fitting. And of course, we’re spoilt for choice right now.

A new Oura Ring launched that has renewed interest in the beloved health tracker. I cannot tell you how many people see mine worn on my index finger and stop me mid conversation to ask if I like it. Hailey Bieber’s new Rhode Barrier Butter seems to be making quite the impression, solidifying itself as a best-seller in her edited skin-care range (there are just five products, after all). As of this week, there’s even a new Glossier product on the block sure to make Emily Weiss proud, a chubby eye shadow stick that’s excellent for accentuating even the most natural of makeup looks. New SKUs aside, I’d be remiss not to mention the host of skin-care sets, makeup gift boxes, and perfume discovery kits that have debuted over the last month—thoughtful pick-me-ups for impulse shopping or carefully chosen presents for your loved ones. For yourself or someone else, a look at the best new beauty products to consider as 2024 comes to a close.

Vogue’s Favorite New Beauty Products

The Winter Moisturizer: Rhode Barrier Butter

  • Why We Love It: It’s skin-care best practice to rethink your face moisturizer as temperatures drop. I know that, my fellow editors know that, and clearly Hailey Bieber knows that, as indicated by the launch of Rhode’s new Barrier Butter at the start of fall. “I have always loved a rich, balmy product as a sealant for other products on the skin in the colder months,” she previously told Vogue. Hers, described as a rich moisture balm, is a mix between an ointment and an emollient face cream, delivering instant hydration via five molecular weights of hyaluronic acid and skin-barrier-strengthening ceramides, then trapping in said moisture with murumuru butter and polyglutamic acid. “It’s also great used underneath your makeup when you need a little extra hydration,” Bieber said. “You can use it on the face, neck, chest, and hands, and it’s great for plumping and hydrating the skin, addressing fine lines, and all of that.” With its versatile uses, you’re likely to reach for it throughout the day.
  • Key Ingredients: Hyaluronic acid, polyglutamic acid, murumuru butter, ceramide NP
  • Best for: Normal-to-dry skin types, hydration

The Health Tracker: Oura Ring 4

  • Why We Love It: Oura’s newest smart ring is here: the Oura Ring 4. I’ve been wearing the previous version, 3, for the last few months and thoroughly enjoyed its uses. If you’re in the market for one, why not shop the latest? Where the Oura Ring wins is its insights that help one optimize and understand their overall health. Ring 4 features the brand’s new Smart Sensing technology to more accurately track metrics like workouts, stress levels, and heart rate. I particularly love monitoring my sleep score—a factor of total sleep, heart rate variability (HRV), nighttime movement, and sleep regularity—which plays a part in your overall “readiness” score: a reflection of how prepared your body is to take on a day. The ring is also quite good at predicting when I’m getting sick (via shifts in your temperature and heart rate), which I’ve found incredibly useful throughout the changing seasons. All this data can be found in an app that was recently designed for an improved user experience. On the aesthetic front, Ring 4 is now available in a new colorway, matte black, along with the previous silver, gold, and rose-gold finishes.
  • Specs: Available in sizes 4-15, medical-grade titanium band, various red and infrared LEDs, PPG sensors, and digital temperature sensor
  • Best for: Health tracking

The Face Pencils: Hermès Trait d’Hermès

  • Why We Love It: Hermès has a way of making beauty products that toe the line between useful cosmetics and display-worthy collectibles. I quickly became partial to its recently debuted Barenia eau de parfum, now one of my most-complimented scents, and expected equal excitement for its new Trait d’Hermès, a collection of 40 colored pencils inspired by the house’s heritage. There are 24 striking eyeliner pencils in shades that range from everyday browns and blacks to statement blues (27–Bleuet) and shimmering golds (15–Mordoré), each crafted with a smudger on opposite ends for added customization. The remaining 16 pencils are for the lips, in a host of reds, pinks, browns, and nude hues perfectly suited for your favorite Hermès lipstick. Both collections have exceptional staying power, allowing for beautiful accents that don’t require frequent reapplication.
  • Shades: 40
  • Best for: Eyeliner, lip liner

The Korean Face Mask: CosRx Advanced Snail Mucin Glass Glow Hydrogel Face Mask

CosRx

Advanced Snail Mucin Glass Glow Hydrogel Face Mask

  • Why We Love It: At Vogue, we’re big proponents of Korean face masks, and in our reporting of the best, the CosRx sheet mask was a favorite of mine and dermatologist Y. Claire Chang. Dr. Chang recommended it for its 35,000 ppm snail secretion filtrate concentration, which helps to hydrate, repair, and heal the skin. It’s one of my favorite hydrating treatments, so when I found out the brand was introducing a sort of 2.0 version, my ears perked up. Enter the Glass Glow Hydrogel Face Mask. While the OG leads with the aforementioned snail mucin, the recent debut pairs it with low-molecular-weight collagen, niacinamide, allantoin, five types of hyaluronic acid, and ceramides. The added ingredients ensure skin is glowing, intensely hydrated, smooth, and firm. Not to mention the mask becomes clear as you wear it, for endless selfie opportunities.
  • Key Ingredients: 25% snail secretion filtrate, low-molecular-weight 200Da collagen, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, allantoin
  • Best for: Hydration, smoothing enlarged pores, evening skin tone, achieving glass skin

The Eye Shadow: Glossier Shadow Sticks

  • Why We Love It: Eye shadow has been having a stellar year: 2023 saw the rise of the single-toned shadow, and this year we’ve seen renewed interest in the palette. With so much hype around les yeux, it’s a fitting time for Glossier’s newest launch: the Glossier Shadow Sticks. Chubby like a crayon and equally buildable and blendable, Shadow Sticks make creating an eye look as easy as can be. There are five versatile shades to choose from; personal standouts include Roadie, a shimmering champagne hue, and Riff, a more traditional warm bronze—both perfect for the upcoming holiday. I like that they can be smudged out with a finger or a brush and don’t dry down instantly, meaning you have a bit of time to play with it upon application. Plus, the formula is ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested to suit those with sensitivities.
  • Key Ingredients: Vitamin E acetate, a Blend + Set Complex
  • Shades: 5

The New Retinol: Dior Capture Totale Retishot Retinol Night Treatment

Dior

Capture Totale Retishot Retinol Night Treatment

  • Why We Love It: While many of us look to Dior for exquisite fashion and dazzling makeup, its skin-care collection is packed with intelligent solutions for all your complexion concerns. If it’s youthful-looking skin you’re after, the label’s new Capture Totale Retishot is just the ticket. Powered by the industry’s most studied antiaging ingredient, retinol (here in a concentrated 0.1% pure form alongside longoza extract), it seeks to correct six signs of skin aging, including enlarged pores, dullness, rough texture, uneven tone, pigmentation, and sun damage. You’ll appreciate that the texture is that of a lightweight cream, treating the skin with minimal irritation. As always, though, patch test and start using every other night to build up tolerance.
  • Key Ingredients: 0.1% concentrated pure concentrated retinol, longoza extract
  • Best for: Brightening, smoothing, evening skin tone, fine lines

The Holiday Highlight: Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Acqua Highlighter

Armani Beauty

Luminous Silk Acqua Highlighter

  • Why We Love It: Armani Beauty’s new Luminous Silk Acqua Highlighter is like a masterclass in how to glow. Available in five pearlescent shades that read more natural sheen than shimmering glitter, this delivers a weightless radiance wherever you place it. The formula itself is liquidy and almost serum-like, making blending to an undetectable finish a seamless process. Plus it’s enriched with niacinamide, caffeine, and glycerin to perk skin up simultaneously. Expect a lit-from-within glow and numerous compliments on each wear.
  • Shades: Niacinamide, caffeine, and glycerin
  • Best for: Highlighting, mixing with foundation

The Reimagined Cleanser: Isamaya x Conserving Beauty Hyaluronic Cleansing & Conditioning Cloths Artistry Set

Isamaya

  • Why We Love It: Beauty powerhouses beloved makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench of Isamaya and biochemist Natassia Graces of Conserving Beauty have come together to deliver a new take on cleansing. The collaboration takes Conserving Beauty’s biodegradable facial cloths that dissolve in water and infuses them in hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and panthenol to nourish skin while prepping for makeup wear (or remove it at the end of the day). Loaded with hydration, it’s excellent for those with skin sensitivities like rosacea and eczema or those interested in a more intelligent, better-for-you makeup wipe. This set comes with a set of 140 cleansing cloths and a 100% refillable aluminum canister to store your wipes sleekly.

Therabody TheraFace Depuffing Wand

  • Why We Love It: Am I the only one who gets really hyped on the benefits of cryotherapy? More often than not—aside from my cold plunge era—this looks like a morning facial massage with a cryo roller for me. “Generally, cold temperatures will cause vasoconstriction (or the shrinking of blood vessel walls) and reduce blood flow,” facialist Katharine Mackenzie Paterson previously told Vogue. “This can then reduce swelling, help with surface redness, and take heat out of the skin, as well as easing any itching or stinging by dulling the nerve endings slightly.” Though my cryo roller did a good job at quelling my morning puffiness, the tool itself would often be far too cold—almost painful on my skin if I used it straight out of the freezer. This is something that Therabody’s TheraFace Depuffing Wand addresses. By delivering cold therapy at a controlled temperature, you can tighten pores and sculpt the face without potentially damaging the skin. Using it is as simple as pressing a button and then toggling between the present temperature settings; the coldest level (50°) works perfectly for me. Therabody recommends sweeping the contoured applicator across clean, dry skin, though I’ve found that it glides easier when the skin is slightly damp after cleansing or using a face mist. After each use, I see a noticeable improvement in the orbital area and cheekbones, where I experience the most inflammation. Plus, the device offers a heat treatment as well, which helps boost circulation and improve product absorption.
  • Specs: Rechargeable (via USB-C cable); Cold Treatment (57°, 54°, or 50°); Heat Treatment (95°, 100°, or 108°)
  • Who It’s for: This is for anyone who wants to reduce puffiness or improve skin’s firmness and radiance.

SkinCeuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier Multi-Glycan

SkinCeuticals

Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier Multi-Glycan

  • Why We Love It: Is it a coincidence that I received an unusually large amount of compliments on my skin the day after I started testing the new SkinCeuticals hyaluronic acid? I think not. Anyone even remotely interested in skin care likely recognizes the name as one of the industry’s most well-respected brands. I’d go as far as to say that every dermatologist I’ve ever consulted has recommended at least one of their products. That said, I’ve made it a point to try every launch of theirs that’s hit my desk. The Silymarin CF, a formula for oily skin, is my daily vitamin C serum, and the A.G.E. Advanced Eye ranks in my favorite eye creams. So, I certainly had high hopes for the Intensifier Multi-Glycan. I like to think of it as the skin’s ultimate hydrator—a hyaluronic acid 2.0. The ingredient is featured at a 1.3% concentration (most serums range from 0.5% to 2%) to improve the skin’s moisture levels for a bouncier complexion. These plumping benefits are bolstered by the inclusion of proxylane—an acclaimed ingredient known for its antiaging properties, specifically, its ability to firm skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Improved skin firmness and luminosity are what create a more youthful appearance, after all. It has a traditional serum texture that sinks well into the skin sans greasiness, meaning it pairs well with other products in your routine.
  • Key Ingredients: 1.3% hyaluronic acid, 12% proxylane, 2% postbiotic ferment extract, 2% licorice root extract, 0.2% purple rice extract
  • Who It’s for: This is for any hyaluronic-acid lover or anyone wishing to achieve plumper, bouncier skin. Pair it with the brand’s recently debuted P-Tiox serum that impressed Vogue contributor Deanna Pai in her test.

Joanna Czech x Evolvetogether Everyday Rosemary Enzyme Cleanser

Joanna Czech

x Evolvetogether Everyday Rosemary Enzyme Cleanser

  • Why We Love It: You come to Joanna Czech’s SoHo studio for two things: an incredible massage and a gentle yet powerful exfoliation (save for an extraction or two). That said, she is a strong believer in the power of a good cleanse—setting the stage for all the treatments and tools that follow. You want something that can remove all the impurities with ease, of course, but also a formula that clarifies pores and offers a good amount of slip to massage onto the skin for a full 60 seconds of face washing. So it makes sense that she would launch her first cleanser, the Everyday Rosemary Enzyme Cleanser, in partnership with the clean plant-based skin-care brand Evolvetogether. Czech and Cynthia Sakai (founder and CEO of Evolvetogether) introduce a powder-to-foam wash designed for use twice daily. “Enzymes work by breaking apart bonds between dead skin cells to facilitate gentle exfoliation and removal of debris, oil, and dirt from the skin surface,” dermatologist Dr. Brendan Camp tells me. Kaolin, papain, tapioca starch, and magnesium carbonate are also featured to amplify these purifying effects. Lastly, this features probiotics to balance the skin’s microbiome and strengthen its moisture barrier. A well-rounded cleanser for even sensitive skin types, this is a great pick for anyone hoping for a deeper clean without stripping the skin. Do we have a cleansing powder resurgence on the horizon?
  • Key Ingredients: Kaolin, lactobacillus ferment, papain, rosemary leaf oil, tapioca starch, magnesium carbonate, rosemary extract
  • Who It’s for: This cleanser is safe for all skin types. Delivering a thorough cleanse and gentle exfoliation, it will appeal to anyone who wants to improve skin texture and tone while doing away with impurities.

Aesop Virere Eau de Parfum

  • Why We Love It: Aesop Virere was a really hard-kept secret for me. I was fortunate enough to get a sample of it about a month before it launched—meaning I was meant to keep it on the down-low. The problem became that I really gravitated toward it. Perhaps in an effort to hold onto the last seconds of summer, I was quite drawn to its freshness. Virere, which the brand says is Latin for “to be green” or “to be full of life,” opens with foresty notes of galbanum and petitgrain, enlivened by bright bergamot. As it wears down, you begin to experience green tea and fig aromas, balanced by cedar, green maté, and hay. The 11th scent in the brand’s fragrance portfolio, crafted by Barnabé Fillion, is invigorating in the way running through a field on a sunny day might be. It’s been a top contender for my most-complimented scents over the last month, and I’m curious to see how it wears and layers with fall now in full swing.
  • Key Notes: Bergamot, green tea, pink pepper, cedar, green tea, fig, cedar, green maté, hay
  • Who It’s for: A unisex eau de parfum, this is for anyone partial to a fresh, woody, herbaceous scent.
