It was certainly not a week for minimalism on the red carpets: The best dressed stars of the week embraced disco ball dressing instead, choosing maximal designs with shimmering metallic accents in all types of finishes—whether gold, silver, or even two-tone sequins. The end result was a glamorous array of gowns that were right on theme for the festive holiday season.
A rare Beyoncé red carpet appearance, for one, saw the star hit the Mufasa premiere in Los Angeles wearing a gold Balmain number; The deep-cut bodice and golden mirrored embellishments was reminiscent of the armored looks she wore during her Renaissance tour. Also shining in gold was her Destiny’s Child co-member Kelly Rowland, who slinked into a Nadine Merabi jumpsuit that would stand out at any holiday party (Cue: Shirley Bassey’s Goldfinger!).
Other stars gravitated towards silver this week. In Hollywood, Lily-Rose Depp continued her winning fashion streak of Chanel numbers with a silver slip dress with a netted and embroidered overlay. At the 2024 Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, Sarah Jessica Parker channeled Carrie Bradshaw in her fringed Oscar de la Renta dress, finished with both gold and sequin crystals; Sometimes, more is more!
Rounding out the week, meanwhile, were elegant floral and lace moments. Nicole Kidman chose a pink Balenciaga gown for the Babygirl premiere, while Mikey Madison went archival at the British Independent Film Awards in a vintage Christian Dior gown in black lace. A true red carpet star in the making.
