Whether you’re Born To Die until you die or an Ultraviolence lover, each era of Lana Del Rey is articulable through her hair. Consider our intro to Lana with her flower crowned-topped waves, the big beehives by way of Priscilla Presley, that raven dark hair dye job of 2014, the physical act of brushing her hair on stage as she sang “Bartender” to the Glastonbury crowd. Big bows, bigger vintage curls.
So what will next year’s album run offer aesthetically? Well, stepping out for Variety’s Hitmakers Brunch in Los Angeles this weekend, Del Rey’s hair is bringing it all back to the golden era of Hollywood big-screen glam. She wore her hair in loose, golden brown Hollywood waves.
Her regular hair stylist, Anna Cofone, described the look on Instagram as “a little 1930s glamour”. Over the last year, Cofone has been on hand for Del Rey’s tour and red carpet hair, crafting Bardot-esque hair silhouettes and taking cues from both softer, relaxed Parisian styles and the bouncy waves and heights of Americana hair.
She was also photographed with British singer Raye, who’s known for her own retro styling. Raye wore her short brunette bob in similarly vintage waves.
