Whether you’re an NYC native, a local transplant, or soon-to-be visitor, you likely know firsthand or have at least heard that incredible restaurants, cafés, and bars are quite high up on the list of all the amazing things the city has to offer. Depending on who you ask, they might even be at the top!
With so many options to choose from, curating a list of recommendations can feel like an impossible feat, which is why I often try to hone in on a vibe or category when sharing my recommendations for places to go. Today, I’m focusing on iconic spots only. Just what does that mean? These places, for a variety of reasons, are all quintessentially New York in their own way and, with proper planning, could make for a pretty epic weekend itinerary for someone looking to visit the Big Apple this season. Just keep scrolling to see and read about every place that made the list, from the best bagel shop to the chicest new café to the vibey dinner spot celebrities can’t get enough of.
Known for its rip-and-dip bagels, seasonal specialties, and, of course, long lines, PopUp Bagels is a newish spot on the scene that I can confirm is totally worthy of its fame. Head to any of its three NYC locations for your bagel fix and to take in the scene. You wont regret it.
What to wear:
Located within Louis Vuitton’s brand-new flagship on 57th Street, Le Café Louis Vuitton is one of the chicest spots to open up in a while. Stop in for a sip, a snack, breakfast, or lunch, and while you do so, you can take in the store’s breathtaking design, art, and merchandise. Just a warning: Once you step in there, you’ll never want to leave.
What to wear:
It’s New York, so of course, there has to be a new hot spot that has immaculate vibes and celebrity fans (including queen Taylor Swift) who can’t get enough and is nearly impossible to get a reservation at. Put your luck to the test and set a Resy notification for The Corner Store to see what all the hype is about. Word on the street is that it measures up.
What to wear:
This list wouldn’t be complete without a diner, and if you ask me, it doesn’t get more iconic than Three Guys Restaurant on Madison Avenue. There, you’ll see everything from Upper East Side moms in action to longtime regulars in their element to local celebrities in their most casual form. Plus, the restaurant makes one of the best chicken Caesar wraps in town, and you can trust me on that one.
What to wear:
Whether you’re stepping into its SoHo location, its Upper East Side dining room, or one of its many other stops around the city, you’ll always enjoy a meal, dessert, or coffee date at ever-iconic and delicious Sant Ambroeus. With every corner as picture-perfect as its dishes, it’s truly a treat to take in.
What to wear:
Is it obvious yet that I live on the Upper East Side? I jest (kind of), but personal bias aside, Bemelmans Bar—a piano bar located in The Carlyle Hotel—is beloved by residents of all neighborhoods. I could go on at length about why, but reasons include its old-world charm, delightful music, interesting crowd, delicious bar snacks, and, of course, crisp martinis.
