My Summer Style Guide: Amanda Gardner

Summer doesn’t always mean scorching heat. For Club member Amanda Gardner, dressing for the season in New England means adding a weather-proof, practical element, too. Luckily, Amanda has just the head-turning jacket for the job.

What’s your essential summer purchase—and why do you love it?

Real talk? Jackets. New England summers are notorious for wild temperature swings, and you never know when a place will have aggressive air conditioning, so sporting an ultra-stylish jacket is essential for girls (like me) who run a bit chilly. I have a go-to motocross jacket with a wink of cobalt and a chic collarless white blazer that goes with everything.

What’s a beauty product that everybody should get their hands on—and why?

Most of the day I’m on the go, so I need my makeup to really work for me—even in summer. Enter Milani Color Fetish hydrating lip stain, which has a perfectly pigmented color that lasts all day and hydrates to boot. I was skeptical about a drugstore brand’s staying power, but I don’t have to think twice after I put this on—and it can handle a sweltering day.

What’s a place you love to visit—and how do you spend your time there?

Summertime in Martha’s Vineyard is a quintessential Massachusetts experience! Rosewater Market in Edgartown is a perfect place to grab an iced lavender latte before heading to one of the Vineyard’s idyllic beaches (Doug’s Cove Preserve is my favorite for its privacy and natural beauty). When I finish my day at the prettiest yoga studio on earth—The Yoga Barn—I’m blissed out.

What’s the one summer shoe you can’t recommend enough?

Anything—everything—white. For me, there is nothing more chic than a crisp white shoe. My current rotation: ballet flats, kitten heel slingback pumps, and my Tory Burch wedge sandals. Rinse and repeat.

What’s one accessory you can’t do without—and why?

What hero piece does more than a silk scarf? I tie my favorite black, white, and gold-chain motif print around my messy bun to look polished. I can fasten it to my raffia tote, roll it up, and use it as a headband—there are an endless amount of options, and it’s always chic.
