As we head into the last month of the year, and with a new year beckoning, this season is a time of reflection for many. It’s about taking stock and setting our intentions for what we desire—in all aspects of our lives—from the next 12 months. But I’ll be honest; whilst I understand some see the appeal in setting New Year’s resolutions, the concept never really sat well with me. Having a long list of goals can be motivating in those first weeks of January, but this can often fizzle out by February. This time around, however, I’m intent on doing things differently and seeking something a lot more frivolous and fun for next year—and that’s manifesting a fresh beauty vibe for 2025.
Granted, it might not seem as important as some of the other New Year’s resolutions you’d normally set, but there’s something to be said about capturing a beauty mood and reinventing yourself to define a new year that’s so empowering. It’s easy enough to slip into old routines and get stuck in a rut, whether it be with the products in your makeup bag or defaulting to the same hairstyle each day (guilty!). Switching things up can breathe new energy into your beauty routine, and that self-expression, by extension, creates a ripple effect in how you show up in the world too. It’s the confidence-boosting spring in your step from a new haircut or colour, the thrill of finding a signature fragrance that chimes with the energy you want to exude or discovering a new way of applying makeup that makes all the difference. I would argue that beauty isn’t so superficial after all—it’s an assertion of who we are.
Curious to see how others are setting the tone for the year ahead, I turned to the Who What Wear UK team and some of our beauty contributors. I asked them to share their beauty vision boards for 2025—a blend of inspiration, intention and creativity. Here’s what they came up with.
2025 Beauty Mood Boards, Shared Directly From Our Editors
1. Espresso Suede
“My 2025 aesthetic is all about refinement through simplicity—a celebration of rich, understated elegance. I’m thinking of it as a deep dive into the expression of brown: a lifestyle rooted in grounding tones and timeless textures,” says junior branded content editor Humaa Hussain. “It’s latte makeup—soft, creamy and effortless—but with the boldness of an americano, no cream. There’s an edge, but it’s never harsh; it’s bronze skin kissed by light, suede layers that feel as good as they look and Savette bags that whisper sophistication.
“It’s the girl who knows the power of Toteme tailoring, the quiet confidence of wearing Molecule 01 as her signature scent and the allure of never over-explaining. It’s a tactile experience—slipping into buttery suede boots, sipping your first espresso and feeling the warmth of bronze accents against a minimalist winter palette.
“This aesthetic isn’t about loud trends or fleeting moments. It’s about cultivating a wardrobe, a beauty routine and a lifestyle that feels like home, yet exudes quiet luxury. It’s deliberate yet effortless—crafted for the woman who doesn’t need embellishment to make a statement. For me, it’s all about the balance: soft yet strong, creamy yet bold, minimal yet warm. I’m stepping into winter wrapped in the essence of brown. It feels like me.”

2. Après Ski
“I’ve made a pact with myself that 2025 is going to be my year of adventure, and my first port of call is trying something new,” says beauty editor Eleanor Vousden. “So, I’m going skiing for the first time in January. Whilst this beauty editor is particularly challenged in the areas of balance and coordination, one thing I’m excited to embrace on and off the slopes is the après ski beauty aesthetic.
“My Pinterest board is filled with glamorous photos of Audrey Hepburn and Bridgette Bardot skiing, and I adore the cosy sophistication that they exude. Since content creator Zoe Kim Kinealy’s video on ‘I’m Cold’ makeup went viral a while back, I’ve not stopped obsessing over her blusher technique that makes you look like you’ve just stepped in from a brisk, cold walk on a sunny winter’s day. So I’ve been patting on Westman Atelier’s Baby Cheeks Blush Stick (£44) to emulate a realistic frosty flush from the cool Alpine air.
“Of course, there has to be an element of practicality to a skiing beauty routine too, so I’ll be packing a high-factor SPF and liberally applying Rhode’s Barrier Butter (£38) to shield my skin from the elements whilst providing a fresh-faced glow. I’ll be keeping Summer Friday’s Lip Butter in Hot Cocoa (£23) in my ski-jacket pocket, and Tom Ford’s Soleil Neige (£220) will be my scent of choice to take me through to après. I have no doubt that I’ll be falling over a lot, so I’ll pack a bottle of Susanne Kaufmann’s Bath for the Senses oil (£55) to soothe any aching muscles after a long day on the slopes.”

3. Grocery Girl
“If there’s one thing I’ve decided for 2025, it’s that my beauty vibe will be all about understated effortlessness—with just the right amount of polish,” says video editor Emily Shannon. “Think of the woman you run into at the grocery store and wonder, ‘Who is she?’ It’s no-makeup makeup that lets your skin do the talking; a sheer skin tint, a dab of dewy blush and a swipe of brow gel will carry me through the year.
“I’ve fully embraced Birkin bangs—the kind that frame your face and are easy to maintain as they grow out. Paired with Daisy Edgar-Jones-style ‘make-out makeup’ (a slightly smudged lip and the softest touch of definition around the eyes), my 2025 going-out look is sorted.
“For fragrance, I’m leaning towards something more unique. The idea of Ffern’s seasonal perfume batches feels just right—the brand creates a new natural fragrance four times a year, one for each season. Winter 24 (£89), has notes of rose, Sicilian lemon, pink peppercorn and saffron, and I’m thinking of joining the waitlist.
“In 2025, I’ll be following fewer trends and leaning more into my personal style and what feels authentic.”

4. Soft and Sultry
“For the past few years, my aesthetic energy has been focused on less is more,” says freelance beauty editor Morgan Fargo. “I stopped filling in my eyebrows, did away with mascara and stuck to blushers close enough to my skin’s natural flush. Think clean and minimal with a slightly androgynous slant that took five minutes from start to finish.
“Recently though, I’ve rediscovered the joy of a softly smudged gel eyeliner and the allure of a just-bitten lip stain. Mascara is back on the menu (Westman Atelier’s luxurious Eye Want You Mascara (£42), to be precise), along with the VIOLETTE_FR Bisou Jelly (£30), Merit’s Brow 1990 Sheer Gel Pencil (£26) and Saie’s liquid-to-powder finish Dew Bronze Soft-Focus Effortless Bronzer (£20).
“Before, I desired to look lacquered and dewy, now I strive for all that’s soft, monochrome and elegant. Browns rather than bronzes, greys instead of blacks; no harsh lines or mirror-like sheen.”

5. Vanilla Crème
“In the new year, I’m ready to channel the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic,” says junior beauty editor Grace Lindsay. “I’ve been seeing this trend all over TikTok, and it’s definitely a bit of me. The first thing I’m working on in January is my skin. I want a clear, glowing complexion so I’m going to be focusing a lot on my skin-barrier health and will start using my CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask (£399) more consistently.
“Another area I want to focus on is my hair. It’s feeling a little dry and frazzled at the moment, so I’m going to try to minimise heat damage and instead work on perfecting my slicked-back bun. I recently stopped getting gel manicures as my nails were weak and damaged, so next year, I’m going to start my BIAB journey and opt for soft-pink and milky-white shades.
“Finally, I’m going to up my bodycare routine and start layering warm vanilla scents to ensure that my fragrance lasts all day. I’m loving Phlur’s Vanilla Skin Body Mist (£24) at the moment, as it pairs well with other perfumes and gives an impressive payoff. All in all, I really want to focus on feeling as put-together and polished as possible after a busy few months that have left me feeling a little worse for wear!”

6. Matcha Moment
“In 2025, I really want to encompass an all-around approach to health and beauty, and have these two areas work in tandem to make me feel like the best version of myself,” says affiliates manager Jerrylyn Saguiped. “To achieve the perfect glow from the inside out, I’ll be focusing on taking scientifically-backed supplements for a healthier gut, which in turn, can positively impact the skin barrier. I’ll be opting for matcha over coffee—it’s everywhere at the moment, and besides its gorgeous deep, earthy taste, it contains a higher rate of antioxidants and amino acids which help with hyperpigmentation and dehydration (thus, helping to create a natural-looking radiance).
“In terms of products, I’ll be making a more conscious effort to choose brands which use clean ingredients, like the Innis Free Green Tea Seed Hyaluronic Cream (£29). The brand pledges never to use unfavourable ingredients in its formulations. By now, you can likely tell I want skincare to shine through!
“I’m also feeling a slightly bleached-brow vibe paired with a super-glossy lip for a more pared-back aesthetic whilst also thinking a bit more out of the box with bolder nail art for contrast.”

7. Refined Routines
“Although the new year often sparks new beginnings, instead of completely rewriting my beauty scripts and routines, I’m choosing to opt for slight tweaks that elevate,” says freelance beauty editor Ata-Owaji Victor.
“Rather than smokey eye shadow looks, for me, 2025 is all about the ’90s tight-line—with deep navy liner rather than black for a softer finish—to keep investing in my love affair with eye-focused makeup looks. Similarly, instead of ripping up my skincare routine, in 2025, I’ll be working on fully integrating beauty tech into my skin rituals by dusting off all my at-home LED and microcurrent devices and keeping up with the recommended usage frequency to help my skincare go that little bit further.”

8. Health & Wealth
“I want to really focus on looking after myself and being as well as I can be in 2025—after all, health is wealth,” says copy editor Georgia Seago. “For me, this means feeling beautiful and comfortable in my skin, so getting my psoriasis under control with nutrition, supplements and the right topical bodycare will be a priority. It’s also about moving my body in ways that nourish it, like mindful walking and regular yoga and Pilates, and I want to try boxing to add some cardio and stress relief into the mix.
“I’m very interested in learning more about cycle-syncing too, and I’d love to start paying more attention to my cycle and working with it to optimise my health and mood. Beauty-wise, I vow that 2025 will finally be the year I get into a consistent fake tan routine! I’m naturally very pale and (especially when my psoriasis is flaring), I feel so much better about myself when I have a bit of colour, so I know it’s worth figuring out the prep, tan, bed-linen-change logistics and making time for it.
“Speaking of routines, I’ve recently started using my NuFACE Mini (£184) nightly and I’m impressed by the results, so I’ll definitely be continuing with that. Finally, I’ll add one or two more hair appointments throughout the year to keep my cut and colour looking fresh. Oh, and I want to smell of Parfums de Marly Valaya (£150) 24/7.”

9. Sugar Dew
“Most people would say I’m a pretty serious person; only classic colours will ever cross the threshold into my wardrobe, and my home is pretty much the same,” says deputy editor Maxine Eggenberger.
“As such, my beauty choices tend to veer towards the timeless: a simple base, a slick of bronzer for definition and some mascara in natural brown. Nails? It’s always either a sheer, beige neutral, or if I’m feeling adventurous, a deep burgundy. And whilst I know this is my comfort zone and that I feel very myself in it, I do feel like I’ve unwittingly made my aesthetic too serious. I’m not about to paint my living room a bright shade of yellow or start adding some bolder pieces to my wardrobe though—instead, for 2025, I’m going to embrace a prettier, more radiant beauty look.
“Inspired by all of the flushes of pink I’ve seen on the spring/summer 2025 runways, as well as all the glowy beauty products I want to try, I’m set on romanticising my makeup. I all but irradiated blusher from my routine—my cheeks are very pink by nature—but now, with so many dewy creams and sticks coming through that can be used on cheeks, lips and lids, I’m inspired to follow suit. My nails will still be very much neutral, but again, I’m expanding my horizons with sugary tones and off-whites for a fresh finish.
“I also want to take more time to enjoy my routine itself; investing in high-quality products to elevate my morning shower, being deliberate with my perfume choice and how I apply it, and instead of staying up too late and rushing to bed, I want to layer self-care steps to my evening ritual to make it more meaningful and intentional.”

10. Glossy & Polished
“In recent years, my makeup looks have been fairly neutral and understated, but I’m a lot more into colour at the moment, especially on my cheeks,” says freelance beauty editor Grace Day. “I love applying blusher high on my cheeks and across my nose for a rosy glow, and then dabbing off any excess pigment on my eyelids to tie the look together.
“Cool tones and shades of brown are other trends I’m loving. A grey-brown smokey-eye look is so me, and although it feels autumnal, I’m planning on wearing chocolate-brown manicures all year round.
“For skin, I’m still loving a radiant, dewy finish. I much prefer a super-shiny, glass-skin effect over a matte look. Finally, when it comes to hair, I’m planning on spending 2025 experimenting with different ways to style my new bob. Hailey Bieber’s side-part style is totally different to my usual, but looks so effortlessly chic.”
